ECHL: A. Goodsir Joins Heartlanders, Hunter Jones called up to Iowa Wild

Coralville, Iowa- The Heartlanders made two transactions to shore up their roster in hopes of extending their three-game win streak as the Landers prepare themselves for their home series with the Utah Grizzlies.

Adam Goodsir was acquired from the Worcester Railers, the ECHL affiliate of the New York Islanders. Goodsir is the return from a preseason trade where Iowa sent Zach White to the Massachusetts-based team.

As a Michigander forward with 18 professional games under his belt, Adam spent the last and best of his college years with Long Island University, where he tallied 15 goals and 19 assists. Goodsir will both be much-needed depth for the Heartlanders and offer more options to give offensive players days off as they may need. Iowa will have to make a roster move if they wish to activate him for their Wednesday morning matchup.

Simultaneously, Hunter Jones has received the call from Des Moines and will be playing for the AHL’s Iowa Wild, at least for the time being. Since the beginning of the 2020-21 season, Jones has played 29 games in net for the AHL side and 66 for the ECHL club. Hunter was in the net for the first-ever Iowa Heartlanders game, and whether or not he comes back to the Heartland, will be remembered as a goaltender who stood up to the challenges and pressure that the team and league put on him. Whenever a fan of the Heartlanders sees the number 29 on someone’s back, they will remember Hunter Jones.

In a corresponding move, Drew DeRidder was activated off the Heartlander reserve and will serve as Peyton Jones’ backup. With the clustered schedules of the ECHL, Iowa fans can certainly expect to see DeRidder make his Heartlander debut in the near future.

Goodsir, DeRidder, and the Landers will begin their three-game test and look to protect Xtream Arena and continue the streak starting with Field Trip Day at 10:35 am on Wednesday the 15th. Fans who have not yet purchased tickets to the Wednesday Game can get their hands on tickets for just $10.35 as well. The series will wrap up with the Heartlanders playing on Friday the 17th at 6:35 pm and Military Appreciation Night on Saturday the 18th at 7:05 pm.
