“AT&T” Dropped From Penguins New Channel Name

News came in earlier this week that the Fenway Sports Group (Penguins majority owners) were buying the AT&T SportsNet Pittsburgh from Warner Bros. Studios. With this change, the channel was expected to receive a new name.

Today, they got their new name, SportsNet Pittsburgh.

Yes, they just dropped AT&T from the name.

The channel will remain the same for everything else. They will be showcasing all of the regionally broadcast Penguins games for the 2023-24 season. The channel will stay at the same channel number and will have the same services carrying it.

The rebranding will start October 2nd, and NESN (New England Sports Network) will manage the channel’s daily operations, while SNP will continue operating out of the current AT&T SportsNet studios on the North Shore.

Warner Bros. Discovery Sports regional sports director Patrick Crumb thanked AT&T SportsNet GM Shawn McClintock in a statement.

The other question remains on what the Pirates will do in 2024. They can either align with the channel or have the MLB take their TV rights.

However, that’s baseball. The good news is that the Penguins’ home is still here, just renamed.
