Battle Against the Bruins: Leafs Game Preview 22

It’s an original six-matchup tonight as the Leafs and Bruins face off. The Bruins are six points ahead of the Leafs in the standings with one more game played than the Leafs. The Leafs are 6-1-1 in their last eight games but have struggled to close games out in regulation. Keep an eye on the Leafs tonight as they look to get a lead and hold onto it tonight.

Leafs Projected Lineup

Three Things to Look Out For

Reaves

Ryan Reaves was brought in to be an enforcer for the Leafs who sticks up for his teammates and helps to be a voice on this Leafs team, and while he may be making the contributions off the ice and in the dressing room, there hasn’t been as much shown on the ice. After fights in his first two games with the Leafs he hasn’t gotten into a fight since and even was in the lineup when Marchand injured Liljegren and didn’t respond. Look for Reaves to protect his team better tonight and not put up with the Bruins walking all over the Leafs physically.

McCabe

Since switching to the right side, Jake McCabe has been much more effective. Sure, he still makes some frustrating mistakes, but he’s been much more effective both offensively and defensively, even setting Marner up for a breakaway hat-trick goal. McCabe is looking more like the player the Leafs were hoping for when they brought him, and he will need to take that up another gear tonight against the Bruins.

Bertuzzi

Tyler Bertuzzi had a slow first few games with the Leafs, but since then, he’s been really solid. The production might not be super consistent yet, but he’s consistently won his minutes. Bertuzzi has also done so, playing a solid defensive game. Keep an eye on Bertuzzi tonight, as he looks to have a solid game against his former team.

Today’s game starts at 7 p.m. EST on Sportsnet, with Woll getting another start with Samsonov out with illness!
