Blues’ Dvorsky Heading to Sudbury

Michael Clubb, Post-Dispatch

The Sudbury Wolves 2nd-round pick from the 2022 CHL Import Draft, Dalibor Dvorsky, is heading to the Ontario Hockey League! After initially starting the season with Oskarshamn overseas in the SHL, Dalibor is now joining a very strong Sudbury Wolves roster that’s looking to make a run.

So who is Dalibor Dvorsky? Dalibor is a Slovakian forward who plays both on the wing and down the middle with ease. The 18-year-old was also a player I liked a lot in last year’s draft class.

Dalibor plays with very strong hockey IQ, which blends really well with his playmaking ability. One thing I love about Dalibor’s game is that he’s not one-dimensional either. Despite having strong playmaking ability, Dvorsky isn’t afraid to shoot the puck, using his hard and accurate release. Dalibor Dvorsky was recently selected 10th overall by the St.Louis Blues in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft last June.

Coming into the draft, I had Dalibor ranked as the 15th player in the draft, labeling him as one of the best two-way players in the class. Fifteen might feel low, given the consensus, but if Dalibor Dvorsky can build on his explosiveness, I wouldn’t be surprised if he becomes a dominant player.

After the move, this does put the Sudbury Wolves in a tricky situation. Given the Ontario Hockey League’s import player rule, the Sudbury Wolves will now have to move either defenseman Jakub Chromiak or goaltender Jakub Vondras.

Regardless, with the addition of Dalibor Dvorsky, this already strong Sudbury Wolves roster is only getting better. With the likes of Quentin Musty, Matthew Mania, and David Goyette, now adding Dalibor Dvorsky should make this team a legitimate contender moving forward.
