Boston Bruins Announce Changes To Hockey Operations Staff

The Boston Bruins have made numerous changes to their hockey operations staff. Dan Darrow, Derek MacKinnon, and Milan Jurcina have joined the organization, while John McLean, Josh Pohlkamp-Hartt, and Campbell Weaver have new roles in the organization.

Darrow will be serving as an assistant video coordinator after joining the B’s after most recently serving as an assistant coach of the U.S. Under-18 Men’s National Team. He also spent seven seasons with the San Jose Sharks as a video coach.

MacKinnon comes to Boston after spending nine seasons with the Calgary Flames. While with the Flames, he served as a pro scout (2014-17) and eventually the director of player personnel (2017-23). MacKinnon also served as a pro scout for the Arizona Coyotes and video coach for the Dallas Stars. MacKinnon will now serve as a pro scout for the Bruins.

Jurcina will be serving as a European scout for the team that drafted him back in 2001. His playing career ended last year as he played for HC Sparta Praha, and now he has made the jump to the front office.

There was also some reshuffling amongst the organization, with McLean, Pohlkamp-Hartt, and Campbell Weaver gaining new roles.

McLean is entering his second season in Boston. After serving as a skills and skating consultant last year, McLean will now be an assistant coach. After a brief AHL career, his only coaching experience was in high school, serving as head coach of the Austin Prep Varsity Boys Ice Hockey team and Malden Catholic School Boys Varsity Ice Hockey team.

Pohlkamp-Hartt has been with the Bruins organization for quite some time. He is entering his sixth season in Boston and will now be the associate director of hockey analytics.

Weaver is also a veteran of the Bruins organization. The 2023-24 season will be his fifth with the Bruins but his first as the director of hockey systems. Weaver first joined the club as a data engineer in 2019.

So, whether it be on or off the ice, Boston has gone through a lot of changes. The question is how they will affect the Bruins once the 2022-23 season regular season arrives.

Bruins Benders Postgame Live. Game 6 Recap Bruins Benders Podcast

The Bruins lose Game 6 to Toronto 2-1 and the series is tied three games apiece. Very little 5 on 5 chances from Boston. This core senses another blown 3-1 series lead. Jim Montgomery is coaching for his job Saturday. We hate everything about this.
