Breaking: Abbotsford Canucks Win Calder Cup

Tonight, the Abbotsford Canucks claimed their first Calder Cup in franchise history. The Canucks finished the playoffs off going 16-4-4 averaging three goals per game while allowing 2.3 goals per game. Arturs Silovs was named MVP, going 16-7 with a 2.01 goals-against average, a .931 save percentage, and five shutouts. The Canucks run included a first round series win over the Tuscon Roadrunners in three games. A series win over the defending Western Conference Champions, the Coachella Valley Firebirds, in four games. The Colorado Eagles in five games. The Texas Stars in the Western Conference Finals in six games. Finally, the Charlotte Checkers in six games.

Abbotsford Canucks Standouts

Linus Karlsson

Karlsson had 26 points in the playoffs on 14 goals and 12 assists for Abbotsford. He was a plus-four with five power-play goals and four game-winning goals. In the regular season, he had 39 points in 32 games on 23 goals and 16 assists. He was a +13 with six power-play goals and seven game-winning goals.

Arshdeep Bains

Bains had 24 points on seven goals and 17 assists; he led the team in assists. Bains was a plus-eight with two power-play goals. In 50 regular season games he had 43 points on 11 goals and 32 asssists. Bains was a plus-ten with two power-play goals and two game-winning goals.

Sammy Blais

Blais had 19 points on six goals and 13 assists for the Canucks. He was a minus-one with 77 penalty minutes, five power-play goals, and a game-winning goal. In 51 regular-season games, he had 40 points on 14 goals and 26 assists. He was a plus-eight with four power-play goals and a game-winning goal.
