Calder Cup Champion Goalie Traded to Penguins

This afternoon, the Vancouver Canucks and Pittsburgh Penguins pulled off a surprising trade. The Canucks traded goalie Arturs Silovs to the Penguins in exchange for forward Chase Stillman and a 2027 fourth-round draft pick.

Silovs won the Calder Cup with the Abbotsford Canucks this season and was named MVP after going 16-7-0 with a 2.01 goals-against average, a .931 save percentage, and five shutouts in the playoffs. In the regular season, in 21 games, he went 14-5-1 with a 2.41 goals-against average and a .908 save percentage. He played in ten games for Vancouver, going 2-6-1 with a 3.65 goals-against average and a .861 save percentage. Stillman, in 65 games in the AHL he recorded 12 points on four goals and eight assists. He was a -19 with a power-play goal, a shorthanded goal, and 54 penalty minutes between the Utica Comets and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. There may be a move coming for the Penguins in the next few days with an abundance of goalies on the roster.

Arturs Silovs

The Vancouver Canucks drafted Silovs 156th overall in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. Silovs in 19 career NHL games is 8-8-2 with a 3.13 goals-against average, and a .880 save percentage. In 110 career AHL games, he went 59-35-12 with a 2.58 goals-against average, a .906 save percentage, and nine shutouts.

Chase Stillman

The New Jersey Devils drafted Stillman 29th overall in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. He joined the organization in 2023-24, appearing in 54 games with the Utica Comets. Stillman had 24 points on 14 goals and ten assists. He was a minus-two with two power-play goals, three game-winning goals, and 72 penalty minutes.
