Rasmus Dahlin Likely Extending on July 1st

It is expected that the Buffalo Sabres and defenseman Rasmus Dahlin will reach a contract extension on July 1st. Dahlin, who is in the final year of his three-year contract worth $6 million annually, is eligible to sign a contract extension on July 1st.

Since being drafted first overall by the Buffalo Sabres in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft, Dahlin has been an anchor on Buffalo’s blueline. However, the 2022-23 season really showed why Fahlin was just as good as advertised. Dahlin posted career-high numbers in goals (15), assists (58), points (73), plus/minus (plus 12), and penalty minutes (92).

While the Buffalo Sabres’ future is bright, Rasmus Dahlin will be quite comfy financially if the reported deal is reached and agreed upon on July 1st. It is expected that the Buffalo Sabres are willing to extend Dahlin for eight years with an annual average value of $10 million per season.

However, a $10 million AAV for eight years would be a bargain of a contract for the Buffalo Sabres. Dahlin looks better every single season, and the upside is endless if this deal is signed.
