On Tuesday, the Dallas Stars re-signed restricted free-agent forward Denis Gurianov to a one-year $2.9 million contract extension on Gurianov’s 25th birthday. Gurianov was a first-round choice (12th overall) of the Stars in the 2015 NHL Draft. The winger scored 11 goals and had a career-high 20 assists in 73 regular-season games in 2021-2022.
The native of Russia has played in 214 regular-season games in his career, with 44 goals and 50 assists, but did not register a point in five games of a seven-game playoff series loss to the Calgary Flames this season. As a rookie in 2019-20, Gurianov scored four goals in a Game 7 win over the Flames in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
