Detroit Red Wings Roster Moves

The Detroit Red Wings are getting set to take on the Columbus Blue Jackets tonight and are coming off a loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Sunday. They snapped their seven-game skid on Saturday with a 4-1 win over the Buffalo Sabres. Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin will not return and has not yet reached the day-to-day portion. Also, ahead of tonight Jake Walman was not at practice and will miss tonight’s game. Red Wings forward Michael Rasmussen is a game-time decision that slides Jonatan Berggren back into the lineup after he sat out the last two games, however with him playing today, he can’t be sent back down to Grand Rapids unless he clears waivers which will make things interesting what the Red Wings do going forward. They also made a call-up today that fans have been waiting for as they called up Simon Edvinsson from Grand Rapids and he was seen skating today at practice. He was skating alongside Jeff Petry, but all the defensemen were rotation, so it remains to be seen if he’ll slide into the lineup for tonight’s game, but it is likely.

Simon Edvinsson By The Numbers

Edvinsson got his first taste of the NHL last season playing in nine games with the Red Wings and he recorded two points both on goals. This season he has played in two games and has recorded a point coming on an assist. This season with the Grand Rapids Griffins in the AHL he has played in 52 games, and he has 29 points on eight goals and 21 points, he ranks tied for fifth on the Griffins in points, tenth in goals, and third in assists. Red Wings fans have been begging for his call-up and it’s here.
