Get your popcorn. Take a break from golf.

The teams outside the playoffs are anxiously waiting to see where their ping pong balls will drop Monday night as their team’s future will be determined.

Let’s look at each team’s last lottery win and who they drafted with the 1st overall pick. The teams are listed with who has the best odds to who has the worst odds.

Anaheim Ducks

There could be history set on Monday, as the Ducks never had the opportunity to win the draft lottery. Recently the luck wasn’t on the Ducks side as in 2021. We saw the newly expanded team Seattle Kraken leap over the Ducks for the second overall pick, which landed the Kraken Matty Beniers.

They hold the best odds, with a 25.5% chance of landing the first overall pick in the 2023 Draft.

Columbus Blue Jackets

Just like the Anaheim Ducks, they’ve never selected first overall. They traded up from the third overall pick to draft Rick Nash in 2002. In the old draft lottery system in 2016, where there were three picks up for grabs, the Blue Jackets moved up one spot from four to three to end up drafting Pierre-Luc Dubois.

They hold the second-best odds with a 13.5% chance of landing the first overall pick in the 2023 Draft.

Chicago Blackhawks

The Blackhawks have had fortunate luck in landing the first overall pick. It happened twice for the Original Six franchise. First, in 1999 moving up from the eighth spot to the fourth spot, and in 2007, moving up from the fifth spot to the first spot in which they drafted Patrick Kane. He turned out to be a pretty decent pick.

They hold the third-best odds with an 11.5% chance of landing the first overall pick in the 2023 Draft.

San Jose Sharks

Like Columbus and Anaheim, the Sharks never won the draft lottery.

They hold the fourth-best odds with a 9.5% chance of landing the first overall pick in the 2023 Draft.

Montreal Canadiens

The Montreal Canadiens didn’t win the draft lottery in 2022 per se, as they stayed in the same position they finished in the regular season standings, which was dead last.

With the first overall pick, Montreal drafted Juraj Slafkovsky over the heavy favorite Shane Wright which caused uproar in the Canadiens fan base and national media.

This season, he finished with 10 points in 39 games before being injured for the rest of the season with a lower-body injury.

They enter with the fifth-best odds, with an 8.5% chance of landing the first overall pick in the 2023 Draft.

Arizona Coyotes

The Arizona Coyotes and even Phoenix Coyotes have never won the draft lottery. We’ll see if that changes on Monday.

They enter with the sixth-best odds, with a 7.5% chance of landing the first overall pick in the 2023 Draft.

Philadelphia Flyers

The Philadelphia Flyers have never won the draft lottery before.

They enter with the seventh-best odds, with a 6.5% chance of landing the first overall pick in the 2023 Draft.

Washington Capitals

The last time the Washington Capitals won the lottery and drafted with the first overall pick was in 2004. With the first overall pick, they landed Alex Ovechkin. The Russian sniper is chasing down Wayne Gretzky’s record for the most goals ever in one player’s career.

They enter with the eighth-best odds, with a 6.0% chance of landing the first overall pick in the 2023 Draft.

Detroit Red Wings

The Detroit Red Wings haven’t had the best luck with draft lotteries in the last decade or so, but that could all change on Monday. Throughout their history, they’ve never drafted with the first overall pick.

They enter with the ninth-best odds, with a 5.0% chance of landing the first overall pick in the 2023 Draft.

St. Louis Blues

The last time the St. Louis Blues won the draft lottery, they drafted Erik Johnson in 2006. They’ve never led off the draft since. They are hoping to do so Monday night.

They enter with the tenth-best odds, with a 3.5% chance of landing the first overall pick in the 2023 Draft.

Vancouver Canucks

The Vancouver Canucks have never won the draft lottery.

It’s public information that is growing up, Connor Bedard was a Canucks fan, and everyone would love to see the hometown kid play for the hometown team.

Unfortunately, it’s a tall task for that to happen as they enter with the 11th best odds with a 3.0% chance of landing the first overall pick in the 2023 Draft. The worst odds possible.
