The Adirondack Thunder will open up the pre-season tonight as they host the Reading Royals. On Wednesday afternoon, Head Coach Pete MacArthur gave the media some updates on what to expect this weekend and his thoughts on the first couple days of Training Camp.
“Good energy, good compete. We knew we had good people but we’re happy with the effort so far and not much has changed since Monday”

Heading into the two pre-season games, head coach Pete MacArthur expects everyone who was at camp to see time in the lineup this weekend and mentioned that Tyson Gilmour, who is the only PTO at Adirondack’s camp, will play in both games this weekend. However, for MacArthur his message to the group ahead of the weekend is simple:
“Don’t think that you have to wow the coaching staff by making plays every single time you go out there, keep it simple, play within yourself and show us that you are understanding of what we are trying to get across in practice”

All three goaltenders who were at camp will also see time in the net during the two games over the weekend. There will be a lot of eyes on the two young goaltenders as Tyler Brennan is coming off an injury that limited him to 13 games last season, and it will be the first time we see the rookie goaltender David Fessenden.
“I’ve been with Brenny {Tyler Brennan} for a couple weeks now and I’m sure he wasn’t too thrilled from a personal agenda about how his year went last year so it looks like he’s put out a lot of work out there and this is day 1 with Fessy {David Fessenden} and I like what I see it’s kinda similar to what we had last year with Vinny, he catches the puck the other way, they look similar in net, they move well big body and I think it will be another good fit for our team”
