ECHL: Interview With New Jersey Devils Prospect Tyler Brennan

The New Jersey Devils have done a solid job at developing goalies as they already have Akira Schmid and Nico Daws, who were both drafted by the Devils, but in the last two seasons, they drafted only one goaltender, and that was Tyler Brennan, who was drafted in the fourth round of the 2022 NHL Draft, and unlike most players who go in the later rounds Brennan was in attendance when his name got called, “I was at the draft in Montreal, I was there with my family, my brother, my parents, and my girlfriend. It was a pretty surreal experience, something I’ve dreamt of for a long time, and to see it come true is something truly special” Brennan spent five seasons in the WHL going 38-42-8 with a 3.19 GAA, .898 SV%, and seven shutouts in 96 games, the Manitoba native was also a part of Canada’s U18 team in 2021 that ended up winning gold despite Brennan not getting any playing time, “I mean it was a pretty awesome experience we were down in Texas for the U18 World Championships, super cool just be on the team, be on that roster, but in the end we got gold, and that’s all that matters, it’s an honor and a privilege to put on that jersey, I took everything I could from that experience and moved forward” said, Brennan.

The 20-year-old goaltender spent time at camp with the Utica Comets and has bounced back between Utica and Adirondack this season, however, all four of his games have come with the Thunder as he holds a 1-2 record with a 3.64 GAA and .898 SV%, but those numbers don’t tell the whole story. Brennan had one bad game where he gave up three goals on six shots vs Norfolk Adirmals but bounced back in his next start where he’d get the win against Reading Royals, making 27 of 28 saves, and then would take the loss last Wednesday when he made 43 of 47 saves as things seem to be on the up and up for the Devils prospect goaltender.
