ECHL Game Recap: Adirondack Thunder vs Trois-Rivieres Lions | 02/12/2025

Trois-Rivieres Lions/ECHL

The Adirondack Thunder looked to build off of their OT loss in Tahoe on Saturday Night as they kicked off the first of seven games against the Trois-Rivieres Lions. For the Thunder, the injuries would continue to pile up as some notable names were out of the lineup were sick/injured, including Ryan Wheeler, Ryan Francis, Tag Bertuzzi, Alex Young, Shaw Boomhower, and Kurt Gosselin. It would be a strong start for the Thunder as they would hold the Lions without a shot in the first nine-plus minutes of the game. For the third straight game, Adirondack would get on the board first, and a player would get their first ECHL goal as Darian Skeoch fed Ryan Nolan in front, who picked up his first career ECHL goal in his first career ECHL game. Before the period was over, the Lions would tie the game at one as Jakov Nokvak fired one from the circle that beat Tyler Brennan.

In the second, the Thunder would get another opportunity to take the lead as Kishaun Gervais would get a breakaway but would get stopped on the breakaway attempt and then again on the rebound attempt as Hunter Jones stood tall to keep the game at one eight minutes into the second. Once again, it would be another penalty that would bite the Thunder, as Jakov Novak would put home his second at the 17:59 mark of the period. It looked as if Adirondack would only be down one after the second, but Nicolas Guay would get a breakaway and score with 0.3 left on the clock for the Lions third PP goal of the game.

In the third, the Thunder would get a chance on the PP but couldn’t convert as they finished the night 0/3 with the man advantage. Adirondack would pull Brennan with a little under three to go looking for some late-game magic like on Saturday Night but would come up short. Jakov Novak would hit the empty net for his third of the game as a single hat would hit the ice for the hat trick. Hunter Jones has yet to lose in regulation this season as he made 25 saves and improved to 11-0-4. Adirondack finishes up the road trip 2-4-2 and will play their only three games at Cool Insuring Arena this weekend against the Lions
