Adirondack Thunder Transactions Graphic

The Adirondack Thunder have announced that they’ve brought back defenseman Pierson Brandon for the 2025-26 season. Brandon, 25, signed with the Thunder on March 31st, but didn’t play in any games with the team as he was rehabbing from an injury. The Irvington, NY, native is the fourth signing by the Thunder, and the second defenseman joining Ian Pierce. Brandon and Pierce signed on with Adirondack on the same day last season. It will be interesting to see where Brandon fits into the lineup. The Thunder must have high hopes for him after keeping him around despite being injured.

Junior and NCAA Career

Prior to going pro, Brandon Pierson spent two seasons in the NAHL with the Aberdeen Wings, where he put up 10 goals and 43 assists for 53 points in 110 games. He would add six assists in 12 games during the postseason. In his first season with the Wings, he had five goals and 20 assists for 25 points in 60 games. He would be named to the NAHL (Central) All-Rookie Team while helping the Wings capture a Robertson Cup. In his second season with the Wings, he would wear an “A”.

After completing two seasons in the NAHL, Brandon would pursue the NCAA route. He would spend four years at Colgate University. He put up 13 goals and 33 assists for 46 points in 125 games. In 2021, he was named to the ECAC All-Rookie Team and was also recognized as the ECAC Best Defensive Defenseman. Brandon would wear an “A” during the 2022-23 season before being named captain of the Red Raiders for the 2023-24 season. The 6’1 defenseman would spend his final year of eligibility at UMass Lowell. For the second straight season, Brandon would wear a “C” on his chest as he put up six goals and two assists for eight points in 34 games with the River Hawks.
