ECHL: Adirondack Thunder Name Darian Skeoch Interim Captain

The Adirondack Thunder have named Darian Skeoch as the interim captain as he’ll be wearing the “C” until Grasso returns from his injury, which doesn’t sound like it will be anytime soon. Patrick Grasso has been out with an undisclosed injury since January 26th and was having a strong year putting up 21 goals and 12 assists for 33 points in 39 games. Grasso was in his third season with the team and has previously worn the “A” for Adirondack and was named the team’s captain prior to the 2023-24 season.

“It’s a huge honor right when I got here I knew exactly what Pete wanted from me and I’ve been trying to do that, lead by example on and off the ice to be rewarded with something like that is something I don’t take lightly, completley honored.

Skeoch was acquired by the Thunder from the Savannah Ghost Pirates which completed the deal that sent defenseman Bryce Martin to Savannah. In 37 games with the Thunder this season Skeoch has one goal and four assists for five points along with 167 penalty minutes. This isn’t the first time that the Ontario native has held a leadership role as he’s been the assistant captain back of the Ghost Pirates for the past two seasons. It’s not often you see a team name an interim captain with seven games left in the regular season, but Skeoch will also carry his “C” into the Kelly Cup Playoffs if Grasso is unavailable to go for the Thunder. Adirondack clinched their ticket last Sunday against the Norfolk Admirals. Skeoch also mentioned “I’m just holding it for him for now”.
