ECHL: Adirondack Thunder Transactions | 12/18/2024

Adirondack Thunder Transactions Graphic

The Adirondack Thunder made a few more transactions on Wednesday as they continue to shuffle around the roster before the weekend series vs Reading Royals, including activating Josh Filmon from reserve after being a healthy scratch on Saturday Night. I would expect to see a few more moves from Adirondack before the weekend series begins.

Injury Updates

Adirondack will get two more bodies back, as T.J. Friedmann and James Marooney were activated off the 14-day IR. Friedmann,26, has three goals and an assist in 14 games but hasn’t played since November 30th. This will be a huge boost for the Thunder middle-six, as the St. Louis native plays a strong two-way game and has a power-forward style of play.

James Marooney will be back in the lineup for the first time since December 2nd. The rookie defenseman has played in 14 games this year and has two assists. With another injury coming on the blueline, I expect him to see more time.

Darian Skeoch appeared to have left practice early on Wednesday and was later placed on the three-day IR. This is a huge loss for the Adirondack, as they will be without their captain for Friday Night and likely Saturday Night as well. Skeoch has played in 19 games while recording 40 minutes in penalties.

Reserves

The Adirondack Thunder have placed goaltender Jeremy Brodeur and Sam Ruffin on reserve. Seeing that Adirondack has three goaltenders on the roster, I would expect Tyler Brennan to start on Friday night, with David Fessenden as the backup. This would give Brodeur a night off before getting the start back at home on Saturday Night.

Ruffin,26, was acquired from the Indy Fuel two weeks ago and played in both games last weekend vs Maine Mariners while picking up his first point of the season. I wouldn’t be shocked if Ruffin finds his way back into the lineup on Saturday Night with Adirondack playing back-to-back with travel.
