ECHL: Adirondack Thunder vs Norfolk Admirals | 01/29/2025

Adirondack Thunder/ECHL

The Adirondack Thunder and Norfolk Admirals faced off for the eighth and final 2024-25 season meeting between the two teams. Coming into tonight, the Thunder were 3-3-1 against Norfolk this season, with two of the three wins coming at The Scope. Tyler Brennan would get the nod tonight after coming off a solid performance on Sunday, where he stopped 23 of the 25 shots he faced. However, Brennan struggled again on Wednesday as he gave up three goals on seven shots before being pulled after 7:05 of action; this is the third time in the past four games. Filip Fornaa Svensson would have two of the three Norfolk goals in the opening period. Adirondack had a chance in the first period to get back into the game. Colby Muise, who looked solid in his Thunder debut, looked good again tonight as he came in and stopped 19 of the 22 shots he faced in the final 52:46 of action.

Brady Fleurent opened up the scoring for the Admirals at the 1:42 mark of the first period and would get Norfolk on the board again in the second as he found the back of the net for one of the two Admiral PP goals in the game. Kishaun Gervais made his Thunder debut on Wednesday and, despite the loss, had a solid night, picking up a goal and an assist. His goal came on the PP at the 12:13 mark of the second period, as the Thunder now have PP goals in each of their last four games.

“Ya, it was defintley a great experience but I wish we could have gotten the victory instead”

Adirondack would cut the deficit to three as Ryan Francis stays hot for the Thunder. He now has six goals and four assists in 10 games this season, and he has had a goal and an assist since returning from his injury. Filip Fornaa Svensson would finish off the scoring on the night as Justin Shields fed Svennson on a two-on-one; for the Swedish forward, it’s his second hat-trick of the season, with his first coming on December 13th vs Cincinnati Cyclones. Thomas Milic would make 33 saves in his first ECHL appearance since January 20th, 2024, as he was recently sent down to Norfolk from the Manitoba Moose.

“Obvioulsy that feels good, but it doesn’t matter who gets the goals as long as we win”

Adirondack will begin a seven-game road trip, starting on Friday Night in Worcester and ending on February 12th in Trois-Rivieres.
