ECHL: Adirondack Thunder’s Zach Walker Suspended Indefinitely

The ECHL Department of Players Safety has suspended Adirondack Thunder forward Zach Walker indefinitely, pending a review of his actions during Friday’s game vs Newfoundland Growlers. Any further discipline by the league will be announced next week. Walker was given a game misconduct for abuse of officials at the 15:18 mark of the first period, along with a minor for roughing. As Walker was heading to the penalty box, he seemed to make contact with the lineman, which resulted in the game misconduct. In 20 games this season, he has three goals and seven assists for 10 points, along with 35 minutes in penalties. Sebastian Vidmar was given a three-game suspension last year for abuse of officials when he was on the Thunder. The big factor here is that his penalty falls under rule 40.2, which under the ECHL rule book, holds a suspension of no less than 20 games.

Adirondack is starting to get a little slim with some call-ups to Utica and injuries as their only healthy body is newly signed defenceman Bray Crowder who has played in 24 games this season playing with the Allen Americans, Indy Fuel, and Adirondack Thunder. He will likely find his way into the lineup on Saturday when the Thunder host the Trois-Rivieres Lions.

  1. What are you even talking about? Walker is a forward… What does this have to do with Defense? Are you saying the only healthy player on the entire roster is Crowder? Can I have your job?
