ECHL: Allen Americans Announce 2024 Kelly Cup Playoff Roster

The Allen Americans have officially announced their 2024 Kelly Cup Playoffs roster. The Americans’ roster consists of 14 forwards, seven defensemen, and three goaltenders.

Roster

The forwards Allen has on their playoff roster are James Hardie, Easton Brodzinski, Mikael Robidoux, Grant Hebert, Blake Murray, Colby McAuley, Liam Finlay, Kameron Kielly, Chaz Smedsrud, Bennett MacArthur, Jordan-Ty Fournier, Colin Jacobs, and Tarun Fizer.

Their defensemen are Ryan Gagnon, Justin Allen, Kris Myllari, Nolan Orzeck, Ty Farmer, Eric Williams, Hank Crone, and Andrew Jarvis.

Their three goaltenders are Marco Costantini, Mark Sinclair, and Leevi Merilainen.

Jarvis and Jacobs are on the Americans’ reserve list, while Merilainen and Fizer are on their playoff-eligible list. All of the other players are on their active roster.

Experience

Heading into the playoffs, the Americans have a good mixture of experience in older guys but also some young, new guys in their rookies. The Americans have nine players from the 2023 Kelly Cup Playoffs who will be playing with them in the 2024 playoffs. Those players are Ty Farmer, Ryan Gagnon, Eric Williams, Hank Crone, Liam Finlay, Grant Hebert, and Mikael Robidoux. Colby McAuley will be playing in his third consecutive post-season with the Americans, and Kris Myllari will be playing in his fourth consecutive post-season with the Americans. The Americans also have their four rookies in, Marco Costantini, Jordan-Ty Fournier, James Hardie, and Chaz Smedsrud, all of whom help bring some young blood and skill to the team. While the Americans do have quite a few guys who do not have playoff experience with the team, they have a few that have had playoff experience with other teams in previous seasons.

Matchup

The Americans had a rough start to their 2023-24 season as they could not get anything going, and wins were few and far between, but that all changed in December. Around Christmas time, the Americans were able to start putting wins together and were able to put together a few winning streaks, eventually allowing them to clinch the third playoff spot in the Mountain Division.

The Americans will face the Idaho Steelheads in the first round. During the regular season, they went 3-7-1 against them. The series will start with Game One of a best-of-seven series on Monday, April 22.
