ECHL: Allen Americans Re-Sign Defenseman From Calgary, Alberta

The Allen Americans have announced that they have re-signed Nolan Orzeck, the 5’11” defenseman from Calgary, Alberta, for the 2024-25 ECHL season.

Junior Career

Nolan Orzeck started his junior career in the 2017-18 season in the WHL. Orzeck spent his junior career playing for the Kootenay/Winnipeg Ice. In his five WHL seasons, he played in 200 games, where he had 14 goals and 65 assists for 79 points. He had 43 penalty minutes and a plus/minus of +46. Orzeck played in the playoffs with the Ice in the 2021-22 season, playing in 15 playoff games where he had one goal and five assists for six points. He had two penalty minutes and a plus/minus of +1. In the 2021-22 season, Orzeck was named the best plus/minus player in the WHL.

Professional Career

After completing his junior career, Orzeck signed his first professional contract with the Iowa Heartlanders in the ECHL. In his two ECHL seasons, Orzeck has played in 124 games, where he has 11 goals and 50 assists for 61 points. He has 48 penalty minutes and a plus/minus of -15. In the 2023-24 season, Orzeck played in 51 games with the Americans, where he had five goals and 22 assists for 27 points. He had eight penalty minutes and a plus/minus of +8. Orzeck played in three playoff games with the Americans in the 2023-24 season. He did not register any points and had two penalty minutes and a plus/minus of +1.

The 2024-25 season will be Orzeck’s second season with Allen and his third season in the ECHL.
