ECHL Announces Fines And Suspensions | 03/30/2024

The ECHL Department of Players Safety has announced three suspensions stemming from Friday’s game as Savannah’s Ross Armour, Maine’s Cam Askew, and Reading’s Ryan Devine have all been suspended one game and fined an undisclosed amount.

Armour is suspended one game and fined an undisclosed amount for an unpenalized slew-foot at the 19:19 mark of the first period, however instead of it being called for a slew-foot Armour was assessed a minor for holding at the 19:19 against Orlando’s Marc-Andre Gaudet. The 26-year-old will miss Monday’s game at Orlando. In 38 games this season Armour has 10 goals and 21 assists for 31 points. Prior to joining the Ghost Pirates last season, he spent four years at Bemidji State University where he had 31 goals and 36 assists for 67 points in 159 games and captained the Beavers in his final year.

Maine’s Cam Askew is suspended one game and fined an undisclosed amount for his actions at the 17:35 mark of the second period in Friday’s game vs Trois-Rivieres Lions. Askew was the third man in on a fight between Connor Doherty and Nicolas Lariviere which occurred right near the Maine bench and Askew would start throwing punches from the bench. He was given a minor for interference, a major for fighting, a game misconduct for fighting off the playing surface, and another game misconduct for being the third man in. The Boston Native will miss Sunday’s game at Trois-Rivieres. The Mariner’s alternate captain has put up nine goals and 14 assists for 23 points along with 119 penalty minutes in 44 games this season. Askew has put up 85 goals and 77 assists for 162 points in 310 games between the South Carolina Stingrays and Maine Mariners over the course of his six-year career.

Reading’s Ryan Devine is suspended one game for an unpenalized slew-foot at the 7:17 mark of the third period in Friday’s game at Adirondack Thunder. Devine would slew-foot Adirondack’s Mac Welsher as Ryan Smith would give the Thunder a 4-2 lead, Welsher didn’t return after getting slew-footed. The Pennsylvania defenseman will miss Saturday’s game at Adirondack. In 50 games with the Kansas City Mavericks and Reading this year Devine has put up one goal and seven assists for eight points along with 102 penalty minutes this season. Devine has over 1,000 penalty minutes during the course of his time in the FPHL and SPHL.
