Forward Daniel Amesbury has announced on Instagram Live that he will be signing with the Kansas City Mavericks for the 2024-25 season. Amesbury joined the Fort Wayne Komets in February after being suspended indefinitely from the FPHL in January; he would play 46 games with the Danbury Hat Tricks, putting up five goals and 10 assists for 15 points in 423 games before being suspended indefinitely. Amesbury played in 13 games with the Komets, tallying up 52 penalty minutes, and was suspended on two different occasions. The first time was a two-game suspension, and the second time was a five-game suspension, which occurred in the final game of the regular season vs Toledo Walleye, Amesbury will miss the first five games of the 2024-25 season, as he will be eligible to return on November 2nd vs Fort Wayne Komets.

“The Mavericks are a 1st class organization and I couldn’t be more excited to Kansas City! I’m looking forward to doing my part in bringing a championship to Mavs Country”

This is a shocking signing for the Mavericks as they get a guy in Amesbury who has no problem dropping the gloves and putting on a show for the fans. The 33-year-old is not going to be an everyday player for the Mavericks, and when in the lineup, he will be a fourth-liner who will see only a handful of shifts a game. The signing of Amesbury also gives the Mavericks some physicality and someone who won’t be afraid to drop the gloves, which is a role that they haven’t filled yet this off-season.
