ECHL: Florida Everblades Have a Busy Week of Signings

The Florida Everblades have announced the signing of multiple players set for the upcoming season. Both Mike Eskra and Brett Davis will be playing in their first pro career, while Zachary Tsekos is coming to the swamp from another ECHL team.

Eskra, the Regina Saskatchewan native, joins the Blades after playing four seasons at the University of Regina. Last season the 22-year-old put up six goals and 26 assists for a total of 32 points and stands 6 feet tall on the blue line.

Before playing in college, he was with the Weyburn Red Wings of the SJHL and dressed for 192 regular season games and tallied a total of 15 points in the postseason of the 28 games.

Davis, 24, will stand as a big forward for the Everblades in the upcoming season. Coming in at 6’2″ and over 200 pounds, you will find Davis constantly driving the net and screening the opposing goaltenders. He previously played for the University of Manitoba. In his two seasons, he compiled 46 points in just 36 games.

Before college, the Oakbank, Manitoba native gained experience in the WHL, where he played 309 games from 2014 to 2020. Davis finished with 200 points thanks to the 93 goals and 107 assists. A 2017 six-round draft pick of the Dallas Stars landed him an opportunity immediately in the AHL with the Manitoba Moose, where he saw five games but never scored a point. There is no question that his roots are in Manitoba, but the organization could not be happier that Davis can break into his pro career with the Florida Everblades.

Tsekos, the 5’10” forward, commits to the Blades for his third professional season. In his first two years, Tsekos played with the Utah Grizzlies in 33 games, burying 13 goals and receiving 13 assists for a total of 26 points. While on paper, the 26-year-old saw playing time in the AHL with the Colorado Eagles, he never received a point in the three total games.

The Montreal, Quebec native first started at Clarkson University for three seasons. In the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons, Tsekos represented the “C.” While being in Potsdam, New York, he played 91 games, lit the lamp 27 times, and tallied 48 assists. Being a captain for his latest college team and having ECHL playing time should bring Tsekos into Florida with a lot of maturity and experience for the upcoming season.
