ECHL Game Recap: Adirondack Thunder vs Orlando Solar Bears | 01/10/2025

Adirondack Thunder/ECHL

The Adirondack Thunder looked to snap a four-game losing streak on Friday Night as they welcomed the Orlando Solar Bears to town for the first time since March 28th, 2017. Before the game started, things weren’t looking great for Adirondack as newly acquired forward Kishaun Gervais would be a late scratch to the Thunder lineup, as both teams would play a man short on Friday Night. It wouldn’t take long for Orlando to get on the board as Jaydon Dureau would find the back of the net for his fourth goal of the season just 17 seconds into the game. Things quickly went from bad to worse, as Orlando would put five goals past Brennan in the opening frame on just eight shots, while the Thunder had five shots on goal in the opening 20 minutes. Aaron Luchuk would find the back of the net for the fifth goal of the period as he finished the night with a goal and an assist, extending his point streak to seven games.

“Just not good enough. Can’t lose four forwards before the game and try and win a hockey game”

Head Coach Pete MacArthur on the overall thoughts on Friday Night’s Game

For the second straight game, Tyler Brennan would get the hook, as David Fessenden would take over in the second period, but that wouldn’t be the only loss for the Thunder as Ryan Francis didn’t come out for the second as well, as it was discovered post-game that he suffered a concussion. The Solar Bears would tack on another goal in the second as Tyler Bird put home a rebound on the power play for his second goal of the game as for the fifth straight game, the Thunder would allow five goals or more to an opponent. Adirondack’s PK has also struggled lately, as they’ve not killed off a penalty since December 31st against the Worcester Railers, a night where they gave up two powerplay goals.

“Ya, we’ve been trying to talk about that. It’s fusturating because we talk about all the things and then we don’t go out and do it. Everyone has to look themselves in the mirror, myself included. It’s just not good enough for anybody on our team right now, we need to figure it out and figure it out now”

Darian Skeoch when asked if the physicality was lacking on Friday Night

Neither team would be able to find the back of the net in the third period as each team would have nine shots on goal in the final frame as Orlando would take home a 6-0 victory to begin a quick three-game road trip as four different Solar Bears would have at least two points on the night including Tyler Bird, Jaydon Dureau, and Alex Frye who all had three points on the night. Ryan Fanti made 19 saves for his first shutout of the season. David Fessenden was one of the few bright spots on the night as he made 10 saves on 11 shots in the final two periods on Friday Night after getting the nod in the final two games against the Trois-Rivieres Lions and will get the nod tomorrow night against the Solar Bears.
