ECHL Game Recap: Adirondack Thunder vs. Trois-Rivieres Lions| 01/07/2024

GLENS FALLS- The Adirondack Thunder have now won six straight games as they won 5-3 vs Trois-Rivieres Lions on Sunday afternoon to wrap up a four in five and improve to 22-8-2-1 on the season,”I don’t remember being part of a team who won a four in five with that kind of travel, and MacArthur mentioned it was a rough ride back from Maine last night, ” It was probably the worst bus ride I’ve had in my career, Johnny did a great job of getting us home safely” said Trois-Rivieres would get on the board first as they would take advantage of a Thunder turnover as Jakov Novak fed Matthew Boucher at the 2:43 mark of the opening frame. Adirondack responded less than five minutes later as Patrick Grasso fed Shane Harper for a tip-in to tie the game up at one, but Charles-Antoine Paiement would regain the Lions lead just 33 seconds later. Colin Felix would fire a rocket from the point at the 10:43 mark for his first goal since November 24th vs Worcester Railers, as it would be knotted up at two after the opening 20.

Topias Vilen would feed Colin Felix for his second of the game and third of the season as the Thunder went up 3-2, “Oh Ya, absolutely, obviously getting a win in first and foremost, but to put up two goals in real nice,” said Felix. Once again, the Lions would respond quickly as Jakov Novak would score nine seconds after Felix’s second of the night to tie the game up at three, and that would be the score after 40. Travis Broughman and Erik Middendorf would put Adirondack up two with eight minutes to go, but Nico Blachman would take a double minor after cross-checking Mathew Boucher twice along with a 10-minute misconduct, and the Thunder had a huge PK coming up, which they killed. Erik Middendorf also finished the night with a goal and two assists. Vinnie Purpura continues to pick up wins for Adirondack as he improved to 11-1-2-1 on the season.

Adirondack begins a five-game road trip on Thursday as they will play three in Newfoundland and then two in Trois-Rivieres before returning home on January 26th for a three-in-three with all those games coming at home.
