The Adirondack Thunder would look to snap their eight-game losing streak as they played a rare Saturday afternoon game against the Trois-Rivieres Lions. In the last few games against the Thunder, the Lions have gotten off to slow starts, but that wouldn’t be the case on Saturday as they outshot the Thunder 12-9 in the opening period. Tyler Brennan would make some big saves early to keep the Thunder in the game, and then, in the final seconds of the period, Darian Skeoch saved a goal to keep the game scoreless after 20 minutes. Adirondack, who came in today with the 28th-worst PK in the league, would kill off both of the Lions’ PP in the opening frame and went a perfect 3/3 on the night on the PK.
It seemed to be the Darian Skeoch, and Tyler Brennan show early on as the Thunder captain would open up the scoring with a shot from the point at the 2:33 mark of the middle frame. For Skeoch, that would be his first goal since March 2nd in Reading. The Thunder would buckle down defensively in the second, holding the Lions to just seven shots on goal in the second period, and carried their 1-0 lead into the 3rd. Adirondack would get the insurance goal as Ryan Conroy would put home his rebound at the 8:45 mark to give the Thunder a 2-0 lead, as Ryan Nolan would get the secondary assist as his first two points have now come in Trois-Rivieres. The Lions would finally get on the board at the 16:57 mark after sustaining a ton of zone time and pulling the goalie as Justin Ducharme picked up his fifth goal of the season. Alex Young added an empty-netter for his fifth of the year to secure the 3-1 win as Adirondack snapped their eight-game skid.

One of the biggest storylines that came out of Saturday’s game would be the goaltending, as Tyler Brennan had a big bounce-back game, stopping 29 of 30 shots and picking up his first win since February 2nd and his seventh of the season. On the other end of the ice, Hunter Jones made 29 saves as he picked up his first regulation loss since March 8th, 2024, as the Lions would suffer just their second loss on home ice this season. Adirondack and Trois-Rivieres will finish off seven straight games against each other on Sunday afternoon in TR. These two teams have one more game against each other after tomorrow, as the Thunder will return to TR on March 21st.
