An even period after 20 minutes is what I wouldn’t call the first period, but an odd period that ended tied. Idaho outplayed Allen as they did most of the game, shots favored the Steelheads 15-7. Reggie, Matt Register opened the scoring with his 6th of the season as time expired on the man advantage at 5:20. Just 36 seconds later Ty Pelton-Byce netted his 11th of the season, a one-time blast at 5:56. Nolan Orzeck put the Amerks in the goal column with his 5th of the season at 7:12. Easton Brodzinski knotted things up, a snipe over the blocker at 14:44.

A breakthrough middle stanza for the fish from Boise. Bailey Conger slotted home the rebound on the man advantage for Idaho’s first three second-period goals. Rassell dazzled on the wraparound, Mark Rassell extended the Steelheads’ advantage with his 24th of the season at 4:03. Will Merchant capped off the second period by scoring with his tip-in for the fish at 16:31.

Allen might as well not have come out of the locker room for the second frame. All jokes aside they did limit Idaho to just 3 goals in a period that easily could’ve been much worse. The Steelheads outshot the Amerks 17-1 in a wild second period.

Bennett MacArthur kicked the final frame off quickly, netting his 5th of the season just 40 seconds into the period. Idaho had a chance on the power play but failed to convert on the man advantage. Idaho goaltender, Bryan Thomson received a penalty for tripping, and Wade Murphy just under a minute later was assessed a high sticking minor to put Allen on a 5-on-3. The Americans took advantage, Eric Williams cut the Steelheads’ lead to just with a snipe over the right shoulder of Thomson at the 9:00 mark. Allen threatened the remainder of the game especially late in the period, Thomson and the Steelheads found a way to shut the Amerks down.
