The Adirondack Thunder and Worcester Railers each came into Sunday afternoon riding high after coming off wins on Saturday Night. Worcester would quickly get the crowd into the game as Griffin Loughran opened up, scoring just 2:36 after the opening faceoff, as things weren’t looking great for the Thunder early on. Josh Filmon would get the Thunder on the board at the 12:47 mark of the period as Josh Filmon would finish off a wrap-around for his fourth of the year to tie the game at one. It would be a relatively quiet first period as Adirondack and Worcester combined for just 12 shots on goal in the opening 20 minutes of play.

Coming into Sunday, Adirondack had been outscored 28-21 in the second period, but that wouldn’t be the case in Sunday’s game. Ryan Francis would get the party started for the Thunder in the second as Ryan Francis would find the back of the net for his second goal of the season at the 3:53 mark, and 44 seconds later, it would be Alex Young who found the back of the net on the PP for his eighth of the season to put Adirondack up two. On Saturday Night, Sean Gulka and Greg Smith would get their first ECHL goals. The weekend of firsts continued on Sunday as Grant Loven found the back of the net for his first career goal. Then it was by Ryan Francis, who found the back of the net for his second of the period as the Thunder would score four goals in 6:55. Francis would finish the night with two goals and three assists for five points. In the third, Adirondack wasted no time getting back on the scoreboard as Ryan Wheeler added a PP goal just 50 seconds into the final frame.

The Railers would make a push late in the third as Jordan Kaplan would score back-to-back powerplay goals for Worcester to make it a three-goal game with a little over 15 minutes remaining. Kaplan now has three goals and an assist in two games against his former team. Benjamin Lindberg would make his name known to Thunder fans with an assist and then would drop the gloves with Matthew Boudens in the third period. Despite outshooting Adirondack 15-4 in the final 20 minutes, the Thunder would hold on as Dylan Wendt would add an empty-net goal for Adirondack, and Tyler Brennan would finish the night with 27 saves for his fourth win of the season. Adirondack and Worcester will meet again on New Year’s Eve, this time in Glens Falls for a 3 pm puck drop.
