The Indy Fuel have announced that they have signed goaltender Peyton Jones for the 2024-25 season. Jones, 28, joins the Fuel after spending last year in Iowa with the Iowa Hearlanders and Iowa Wild. In 33 games with the Heartlanders, he put up a 12-18-1 record with a 3.26 GAA, .897SV%, and one shutout. At the AHL level, he would go 1-3 with a 4.33 GAA and .867SV%; his only win was his first career AHL victory. Jones would be the Heartlanders representative at the 2024 ECHL All-Star Classic in Savannah. For the Fuel, this is the first goaltender they signed to an ECHL contract. Zach Driscoll, who led Indy with 42 appearances last year, remains unsigned, and Mitchell Weeks is currently on an AHL Deal with the Rockford Ice Hogs. For Jones, this is a solid opportunity to help find his game after a rough first year back in North America after spending the 2022-23 season in the EIHL with the Belfast Giants and Nottingham Panthers, where he went 15-12 with a 2.84 GAA, .912SV%, and two shutouts.

The 28-year-old goaltender began his pro career with the Colorado Eagles and Utah Grizzlies, where he spent two seasons putting up a 25-15-4 record with a 3.21 GAA, .898 SV%, and one shutout with Utah and 0-2-2 with a 3.41 GAA and .888 SV% with Colorado. Prior to going pro, the Langhorne, Pennsylvania native played four years at Penn State, going 74-44-11 with a 2.88 GAA, .908SV%, and four shutouts. He would have an outstanding rookie year at Penn State, where he went 23-10-2 with a 2.60 GAA, .904SV%, and two shutouts. Jones would be named to the All-Rookie Team as well as taking home a B1G Championship while being named to the All-Tournament Team and being named the Tournament MVP; he would also help the Nittany Lions win a B1G Championship in 2020.
