ECHL: Indy Fuel Sign Nick Grima

It was announced today that Nick Grima has signed and will join the Indy Fuel

Grima, a Toronto, Canada native, is a right-handed Defenseman. He has played in three leagues throughout his life, first with the OJHL, then the OHL for five seasons, and the University of Toronto

Nick finished his OHL career with 14 goals and 97 assists for 111 points, along with 234 penalty minutes. He’s played at the University of Toronto for the past three seasons and has 76 games played, 10 goals, 32 assists, and 48 points.

Grima also attended Toronto Maple Leaf’s development camp in 2018 and has made a handful of appearances at the Leaf’s practice sessions since. He brings a strong solid background with him in hopes to strengthen the team and one can see that adding Grima to the Indy Fuel D-line is one that will bring substantial power and character to the team. Ryan Medel, coach of the year winner 2019-20 for OUA and U SPORTS, was quoted in May of 2020 saying, “By adding Nick to our group, we feel we’re adding a versatile defenseman who can play in any situation on the ice. His mobility and puck-moving skills will be an asset for our group, but he’s also reliable defensively.” The Indy Fuel hopes to see the same out of Nick as Coach Ryan did and are looking forward to seeing what Grima can do on our ice.

Nick Grima is a well-rounded player and person in general. He actively raises awareness for First Responders’ PTSD and Mental Health needs. He has actively participated in raising awareness with #ivegotyourback911, and in doing so, he received the Mountaineer Legacy Award in 2018. In a time when mental health matters, this is a great addition to the league in general.
