ECHL: Joe Leahy Back in Greenville

The Greenville Swamp Rabbits continued the trend of announcing re-signings on Wednesday August 2, 2023. Announcing the 6’4 defenseman Joe Leahy will be returning to Greenville for the 2023-2024 season. Before joining Greenville at the end of last season. Leahy spent most of the year playing in the NCAA for the University of Vermont. Leahy had spent the previous two seasons playing for Vermont. With the 2021-2022 season being his most successful in point production. With 10 points (two goals and 8 assists) in 27 games played. Leahy played in two less games the following season, appearing in 25 games for Vermont with three total points (one goal and two assists).

Once the NCAA season with Vermont was over for Leahy, he signed with the Swamp Rabbits on March 16, 2023. Leahy appeared in 10 games during the regular season for Greenville, posting four points (all four points came from assists). Leahy also proved to be a favorite when it came time to the playoffs appearing in all six games of the opening series against the Jacksonville Icemen. Greenville would end up losing the series two-four. Leahy added one point in the six games.

Leahy continues the trend of signing tall defenseman on this Greenville roster, joining LA Grissom who also is listed at 6’4 and Ethan Cap standing at 6’2. If the final few games of the season are any indication of the plans for Leahy going forward. Greenville fans can expect that they will get to continue to know Leahy as his role continues to grow.

Leahy and the Swamp Rabbits will open the regular season on October 21, 2023. When they take on the Norfolk Admirals at the Well.
