ECHL: Kalamazoo Wings Sign Frozen Four Champ

The Kalamazoo Wings have added three more players to the roster! Jacob Nordqvist begins his first professional season following an astounding season at Quinnipiac University. Nordqvist played 38 games where he notched 11 assists and 20 penalty minutes with a +15 rating. Hailing from Goteborg, SWE at 5’9, 185 pounds, this 25-year-old defenseman brings great puck movement skills as well as a championship mindset to the blue line. Before transferring to Quinnipiac, he played 141 games for Lake Superior State University, putting up 13 goals and 49 assists, and tallied 68 penalty minutes with an impressive +28 rating.

Brandon Saigeon returns for his second season with the Club and his fourth in professional hockey. A Grimsby, ON native standing at 6’1 and 190 pounds, he was drafted in 2018 by the Colorado Avalanche and has played for the Utah Grizzlies and the Wheeling Nailers prior to donning the K-Wings sweater. Last season, he scored eight goals and 27 assists while adding 26 penalty minutes in 64 games. He was second on the team in points scored and tied for second in assists.

Rex Moe, a 24-year-old out of Grand Rapids, MI, has also been signed to a Professional Tryout contract as well. Standing tall at 6 feet 4 inches and weighing in at 216 pounds, he played 36 games for the Knoxville Ice Bears (SPHL), where he scored 13 goals and 13 assists and sat for 94 penalty minutes. He brings size and physicality to the forward lines. Moe signed a PTO last year and made the team out of camp but was cut after playing in just two games.

The Kalamazoo Wings begin their season October 21st at 7pm EST at Wings Event Center
