ECHL: Matt Boudens named First Ever Captain of the Savannah Ghost Pirates

The Savannah Ghost Pirates have just announced Matt Boudens as their first official Captain of the team! Darian Skeoch and Brent Pedersen will lead alongside Matt as assistant captains for the team.

Darian and Brent both played for the Ghost Pirates last season and were key supporters of the team. Darian ranked up a total of 110 penalty minutes in his 35 games played and had eight points. Brent was the top scorer for the team last season, with a total of 27 goals. Brent played a total of 57 games last season and had 20 assists.

Matt has previously played for the Fort Wayne Komets in the ECHL and the Chicago Wolves and Henderson Silver Knights in the AHL. In the 2021-22 season, Matt was a captain for the Fort Wayne Komets; he played seven games that season with them, spending most of his time with the Henderson Silver Knights. With the Komets, he scored five goals and one assist; with the Silver Knights, he played 30 games and had five assists. Last season for 2022-23, Matt played with the Komets again and was named an assistant captain. He played a total of 36 games that season with five goals and ten assists. The Komets went to playoffs and played five games where Matt was able to score one goal for them.

Matt recently stated, “I take a lot of pride in being the first captain in Ghost Pirates history. I’m excited with the leadership we have in this room, and we want to build a winning tradition in Savannah.”

The fans and I are excited to see the growth in the team this season and can’t wait to witness how Matt, Darian, and Brent lead this team to greatness.

See Matt play his first game as captain of the Ghost Pirates and the rest of the team tonight in Greenville as they play against the Swamp Rabbits at 7:05 pm EDT.
