ECHL Names League’s Hockey Operations Department of the Year Award

The Jacksonville Icemen have been honored as the recipient of the League’s Hockey Operations Department of the Year Award for the 2023-24 season. Following closely behind in the rankings were the Kansas City Mavericks, the Idaho Steelheads, the Greenville Swamp Rabbits, and the Toledo Walleye. This is the first time the Icemen have won this award.

Jacksonville concluded the 2023-24 regular season with an impressive record of 42 wins, 23 losses, and seven ties, securing second place in the South Division. Notably, the Icemen secured their third consecutive spot in the Kelly Cup Playoffs while also achieving the milestone of attaining 40 wins for the third consecutive season.

Each year, the award is given to the team with the best hockey operations department in the league, determined by a vote from ECHL coaches.

Jacksonville is poised to compete against the Florida Everblades in the Kelly Cup Playoffs for the third consecutive year and the fourth time since 2019. The series’ first game is scheduled for Thursday, April 18th, at 7 p.m. Eastern Time in Jacksonville. The Icemen were eliminated by the Everblades in last year’s Kelly Cup Playoffs in six games as the Everblades would go on to win their second straight Kelly Cup Championship.
