ECHL North Division Finals – Game 4 Recap: Trois-Rivieres Lions vs Norfolk Admirals

The Trois-Rivieres Lions looked to take a commanding 3-1 lead over the Norfolk Admirals after picking up a 4-1 win on Thursday Night. Norfolk would go back to Thomas Milic after Domenic DiVincentiis got the start in Game 3. The Admirals would get their chances early as they would get a PP less than five minutes in. Norfolk had a lot of good looks, but Luke Cavallin and Milic would stand tall, keeping the game scoreless. The Norfolk Admirals would get some chances of their own on the PP later in the period, but like the Lions, they couldn’t convert. Norfolk would outshoot the Lions 12-10 in the opening frame.

For the second straight game, neither team would find the back of the net in the middle frame, but the two sides would combine for 15 shots in the middle frame. Unlike in the first few games of the series, the referees seemed to have put their whistles away and let the team play as the game continued to get more physical. The defensive game on both ends would tighten up as the two teams combined for just 15 shots in the middle frame.

Late in the third, Brandon Osmundson would break the stalemate, putting home his third of the Kelly Cup Playoffs to give Norfolk a 1-0 lead at the 13:52 mark of the third. As the final horn sounded, Jakov Novak would slash Ryan Chyzowski in the back of the legs, which didn’t make the Admirals very happy. Thomas Milic would stop all 24 shots he saw for his third shutout of the Kelly Cup Playoffs. Like Cavallin also made 24 saves but would pick up the loss. The Norfolk portion of the series will wrap up on Sunday afternoon at 5:05 before the series shifts back to TR for the rest of the series.
