ECHL: North Division Recap | Week 7

The North Division is full of physicality and close standings. When it comes to standings, teams have changed up, with Wheeling holding on to the top spot and Norfolk battling with them in second place. Maine continues to be at the bottom of the standings. Here’s how everyone fared over the past week:

Wheeling Nailers

Wheeling Nailers (12-3-1-0 25 pts, 1st Place)—Wheeling is in first place with an eight-game win streak. This past week, they faced the Toledo Walleye, who is first in the Central Division, and the Cincinnati Cyclones, who are currently last in the Central. The Nailers currently have a 0.781 percentage with 16 games played. This upcoming week, the Nailers are facing the Kalamazoo Wings and Reading Royals at home and the Cincinnati Cyclones on the road.

Norfolk Admirals

Norfolk Admirals (11-4-3-0, 25 pts, 2nd Place): Norfolk has dropped to second place at this time but continues to keep up with the Nailers. The Admirals currently have a .694 percentage with 18 games played. The Admirals have just come off of a homestand against the last place in the division, the Maine Mariners. Norfolk completed a sweep of wins against the Mariners this weekend, with one game going into post-regulation. This upcoming week, the Nailers hit the road to battle against the Adirondack Thunder and then head over to visit the Worcester Railers.

Trois-Rivières Lions

Trois-Rivières Lions (9-3-2-0, 20 pt, 3rd Place) – Trois-Riviéres played a singular game this past week on Wednesday on the road against the Adirondack Thunder and took home the win. Trois-Riviéres has a .741 percentage and 14 games played. This upcoming week, they play against the Maine Mariners on Friday and the Worcester Railers on Saturday and Sunday. Trois-Riviéres will be making up ground this week with games played when they play a trio of games against Mountain Division Idaho Steelheads on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. All games will be taking place at the Colisée Vidéotron. On Sunday, the Lions hit the road to face off against the Maine Mariners.

Adirondack Thunder

Adirondack Thunder (8-7-0-1, 17 pts, 4th Place)- Three games took place this week for Adirondack, but unfortunately, the injury bug is also biting the Thunder. During this homestand, the Thunder faced off against Trois-Riviéres on Wednesday evening and the Reading Royals on Friday and Saturday evening. The Thunder currently have a .531 percentage with 16 games played thus far. Adirondack will continue and conclude their five-game homestand by Friday with a game against the Worcester Railers and the Norfolk Admirals. The Thunder will take to the road for a Saturday night match-up against the Reading Royals.

Reading Royals

Reading Royals (7-11-3-0, 17 pts, 5th Place)—The Reading Royals have played the most games in the league, with 21 games played so far. The Royals played a pair of games on the road this week against rivals the Adirondack Thunder. The Royals split the pair of games and took home a win. The Royals currently have a .405 percentage. During this upcoming week, Reading takes on Adirondack again and then hits the road to Wheeling to take on first place Wheeling Nailers.

Worcester Railers

Worcester Railers (8-10-0-1, 17 pts, 6th Place): Worcester traveled to Kansas this past week for a trio of games against the Wichita Thunder. The Railers came away with two wins and one loss. They currently have a .447 percentage in the standings. The Railers continue their road trip to play one game against the Adirondack Thunder on Wednesday evening. Worcester returns home to play two games against the Maine Mariners on Friday and Saturday evening.

Maine Mariners

Maine Mariners (6-10-1-0, 13 pts, 7th Place)—Maine remains in last place in the North Division standings. The Mariners played a trio of games against the Norfolk Admirals this past week on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. Maine comes home with only earning one point on the road. They currently have a .382 percentage in the standings. This upcoming week, the Mariners hit the road to take on the Worcester Railers on Friday and Saturday. Sunday afternoon, they return home to face off against the Trois-Rivéres Lions.
