ECHL Game Recap: Adirondack Thunder vs Trois-Rivieres Lions | 11/27/2024

Adirondack Thunder/ECHL

The Adirondack Thunder returned home on Wednesday Night to begin a five-game home stand after a tough South Division trip, during which the team went 1-3. In the early moments of the game, it would be the Trois-Rivieres Lions who had all the momentum early on, but Tyler Brennan would keep the game scoreless. Adirondack would finally get some momentum after Darian Skeoch dropped the gloves with Mathieu Boisland at the 9:55 mark of the opening frame. One of the few positives that came out of Wednesday Night’s game was the PK that went a perfect four-for-four against a Lions team that was leading the league on the PP.

“It is, but it’s also a head scratcher, why can’t we play like that when we are five on five? It’s very dissapointing to say that very least”

Head Coach Pete MacArthur when asked about if the PK was a positive tonight against the best PP team in the ECHL

In the second, the Lions would get on the board as Anthony Beauchamp went bar-down to give the Lions a 1-0 lead at 4:49. Adirondack would have their chances to tie the game up as they would get a five on three for 12 seconds but couldn’t convert as the Thunder PP would end the night 0 for 2. It would be a late-period goal to send the Lions to the locker room with a 2-0 lead as Morgan Adams-Moisan would feed Tyler Hylland in front at 1:43 in the middle frame. In the third, Shaw Boomhower would do what he does best to try and give the Thunder a spark, but would throw the last punch and would get sent off for roughing, which Boomhower didn’t seem too pleased with the referees. Ryan Smith, who had a short-handed breakaway, would redeem himself as he would score short-handed for his fourth of the year to put the Thunder within one, but that’s as close as they would come as Xavier Cormier added a short-handed goal to hand the Thunder their fourth loss in five games. Luke Cavallin would make 21 saves for his fourth win of the season, and Tyler Brennan would make 27 saves for his fourth loss of the year.

“Ya, every guy in there has to look in the mirror and come ready to play on Friday. It’s the same thing we were doing until that last game in South Carolina and that’s not good enough, our goaltenders are kickin but the rest of us need to take a good look in the mirror and figure it out”

Darian Skeoch on Wednesday Night’s Loss

After the game, Head Coach Pete MacArthur hinted that the team would be making changes and they could come as soon as tonight. He mentioned that they have a defenseman on the way but couldn’t get into specifics about who it was. He said his status is up in the air for the weekend, pending physicals and other factors.
