Solar Bears fans got thrown two new signings today! Prior to the new signings, the team has signed three forwards, one defenseman, and one goaltender. Today Orlando brought back forwards Alex Frye and Jamie Rome for the 2023-24 season.

The 6-foot forward, Alex Frye, has played seven games as a Solar Bear. During his time with the team during the 2022-23 season, Frye recorded six points (1g-5a). Prior to beginning his ECHL career, Frye played NCAA hockey for Northern Michigan University, appearing in 130 games, picking up 59 points (30g-29a). Before Northern Michigan, Frye played hockey at the University of Alaska-Anchorage for the 2019-2020 season, where he played 34 games. Over Frye’s three seasons in the North American Hockey League (NAHL), he played for the Topeka Roadrunners, Philadelphia Rebels, and Jamestown Rebels. Frye scored 118 points (60g-58a) during his time in the NAHL.

24-year-old Jamie Rome appeared in five games with the Orlando Solar Bears at the end of the 2022-23 season, Rome joined the Solar Bears after finishing his collegiate career at Western Michigan University. Rome played 30 games with WMU scoring nine goals and seven assists. Hopefully, we will see Rome excel on the ice as well as he did in school. He was selected four times for NCHC Academic All-Conference.
