The Cincinnati Cyclones have announced that they’ve hired Rob Couturier as the team’s video and goalie coach for the 2025-26 season. Couturier joins Head Coach Riley Weselowsky and assistant coach Louie Caporusso behind the Cyclones bench. This is a huge boost for a Cincinnati team that will look to rely on its goaltending next season.
“Adding Rob to our staff is a huge win for the Cyclones organization and a big step toward our goal of becoming the top developmental program in the ECHL,” said Cyclones Head Coach Riley Weselowski. “Having worked with Rob for the past two seasons, I can tell you first-hand that there’s no one better suited to help our goalies reach their full potential.”

Cincinnati finished 12th last season in GAA (2.88), and they finished 22nd (3.63) during the 2023-24 season. Five different goaltenders saw time between the pipes last season for the Cyclones. However, a majority of the starts came from Vyacheslav Peska, Paval Cajan, and Jon Gillies.
The 47-year-old joins the Cyclones after spending the last two seasons with the Kansas City Mavericks in the same role alongside Weselowsky. In each of the last two seasons, the Mavericks finished third in the league in goals against average per game. Kansas City won the Brabham Cup in 2024 and has won the Mountain Division in each of the past two seasons. During the 2023-24 season, the Mavericks had three goaltenders with a save percentage (SV%) over .900 and 15 or more wins: Jack LaFontaine, Cale Morris, and Dillon Kelly.
“I’m thrilled to join the Cyclones this season as the team’s goaltending coach,” said Couturier. “Having worked with Riley in Kansas City, I’m excited about the vision he has for building something special in Cincinnati, and I’m proud to be a part of that process.”

Before heading to the pro ranks as a goalie coach, Couturier spent five seasons at the high school level at North Yarmouth Academy. He would then make his way to the NCAA level, spending two years at Colby College and then another two at the University of Nebraska-Omaha before Kansas City for the 2023-24 season. Couturier is also the founder and owner of ProForm Goalie Development.
