ECHL: Solar Bears Re-sign Defenseman Ben Carroll

The Orlando Solar Bears have confirmed the signing of defenseman Ben Carroll for the 2024-25 season. Carroll is beginning his sixth professional season and second with the Solar Bears.

Carroll has taken part in 67 regular season games in the 2023-24 season, accumulating 35 points after tallying five goals and 30 assists. He ended the the season leading all Solar Bears defensemen in scoring. In December of last season he was selected as the team Breakthrough Player of the Game after earning two assists in the game against the Atlanta Gladiators.

Carroll, a native of Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada, now has 191 ECHL regular season games and 23 playoff games under his belt across four seasons with the Allen Americans and Orlando Solar Bears,

During his time playing major junior hockey for the Edmonton Oil Kings in the WHL, Carroll played a total of 180 regular season games and 25 playoff games spanning four seasons from 2012 to 2016. In the 2013-14 season, the team had clinched both the WHL Championship and the Memorial Cup Championship.

In 2016, Carroll made the move to college hockey and joined the University of Alberta hockey team. While there, he played a total of 107 games and was part of the Golden Bears program that secured the USports University Cup Championship during the 2017-18 season. Carroll’s time at the University of Alberta saw him tally 42 points, with 6 goals and 36 assists to his name.

The Solar Bears 2024-25 preseason roster now includes the following players: Forwards Alex Frye, Tyler Bird, Brayden Low, Spencer Kersten, Tanner Schachle, Aaron Luchuk; Defensemen Chandler Romeo, Robbie Stucker, Kurt Gosselin, Avery Winslow, Matt Stief, Ben Carroll and Goaltender Alexis Gravel

The Solar Bears will kick off their season on the road against the Greenville Swamp Rabbits on Friday, October 18th
