Greenville, SC—At an unprecedented time, the Greenville Swamp Rabbits have placed Ethan Cap on indefinite suspension to protect his ECHL playing rights for the purpose of playing overseas in Austria. Cap, 24, has had an impressive career as a young defenseman from British Columbia, Canada. He played a total of 169 games in the ECHL for the Swamp Rabbits, tallying up 39 points from three goals and 36 assists. The 6’2, 210-pound defender previously played five seasons in the WHL for the Edmonton Oil Kings. Cap’s first season in the WHL was during the 2016-17 season, as he would play 287 games in total and tally up 85 points from 18 goals plus 67 assists. Cap previously played six games during the 2023 Kelly Cup Playoffs for the Rabbits and recorded four assists. For his now-short 2023-24 season with the Rabbits, he played 46 games and added just seven assists. In his last couple of games played, he was on the top power-play units for his team, being an agile and quick d-man who assisted his team on a 23% PP success.
