ECHL: Swamp Rabbits Re-sign Colton Young

With the start of the new month of August and the countdown to the 2023-24 season, the Swamp Rabbits aren’t letting their foot off the gas in terms of player signings. So far, they’ve re-signed eight players from last season’s roster, along with Jake Smith being the only new player. On August 2nd, the club announced two re-signings: Colton Young and Joe Leahy. Young, 25, previously played four seasons with Colgate University. Before signing an amateur contract with Swamp Rabbits, Young played 40 games with Col, scoringored 11 goals and 17 assists during the 2022-23 season. Upon signing his amateur contract before the post-season, he played four games, scored once, and added three assists. His fast skating speed and excellent puck-handling skills constituted him to be signed to a regular contract prior to the start of the Kelly Cup Playoffs, where he added only an assist. The Calgary native is a solid forward with a lot of playing experience for his age. With the new 2023-24 season starting up, this will be Young’s first full-time professional season, so it’s unclear where he’ll fit in.
