ECHL: Swamp Rabbits Re-sign Ethan Somoza and Brannon McManus to 2023-24 Season

Greenville, SC—The clock is ticking to the start of the 2023-24 ECHL season, and the Swamp Rabbits aren’t shying away from player signings. Today, August 21, the club announced that they’ve re-signed forwards Ethan Somoza and Brannon McManus for the upcoming season. Greenville’s current roster has mainly been posted with familiar faces, with only two new faces, Jake Smith and Nick Prkusic, being signed. Somoza, 27, has played 81 regular season games and eight playoff games—all of which for the Swamp Rabbits. Last season, Somoza played 70 games for Greenville, tallying up a solid 20 goals and 19 assists. The Simi Valley, California native shoots left and was a solid shooter when it came to dunking goals into the net on the PP or odd-man rushes. The second player re-signing, Brannon McManus: McManus, 24, played 59 games for Greenville last season, tallying up 12 goals and 27 assists. Judging by his stats, McManus is a key passer for offensive rushes and offensive zone pressure. Last season was McManus’s first season in the ECHL. Before signing with Greenville several games into the season, McManus played seven regular 2021-22 season games for the Abbotsford Canucks of the AHL, putting up three goals. However, before his short run in the AHL, he played 34 games during the 2021-22 season for the University of Nebraska-Omaha, tallying up nine goals and 23 assists.
