ECHL: Swamp Rabbits vs. Ghost Pirates Game Preview | 02/04/2024

Greenville, SC—The Swamp Rabbits will complete their three-game homestand against Savannah today at 3:05 PM (Feb. 4, 2024), after they played against the Stingrays and the Icemen; fans and the team will celebrate their mascot Stomper’s ninth birthday during the game today.

So far, the Rabbits are 1-1 of this week, as last night they lost to Jacksonville 5-2. This will actually be their last three consecutive game home stand of the season, as the next games at home will be either two back-to-back games or multiple stretched out at different days of the week. Greenville, as of late, stands on a 31-12-1-0 record with 63 points, and they currently are head to head against the Adirondack Thunder for first place in conference standings, as the Thunder have 65 points.

Savannah is significantly below the standings of 13th place in the eastern conference with a 16-22-4-1 record and 37 points. For their power plays, Greenville retains a 22.5% success rate, and thanks to Max Martin and Nikita Pavlychev being sent back down to Greenville from AHL Ontario, their PP will only strengthen; Savannah holds a 16.2% PP success. For the teams’ PK, the Rabbits have an 83% kill rate, while the Ghost Pirates have a 76.7%. Cole Donhauser of the Rabbits’ played his first game in Greenville against the Icemen and actually posted his first career point on the record from an assist to Ethan Somoza’s goal. Somoza is 10-9-19 after playing 44 games in Orange; Nikita Pavlychev is 10-15-25 after 25 games played; Joe Leahy is 7-8-15 after 41 games played; and goalie Ryan Bednard is 24-15 and has 2.82 GAA and 0.917 SV%. For Savannah, Simon Pinard is 14-15-29 and is the team’s leading point maker; Logan Drevitch is 10-17-27; and goalie Jesper Vikman has 2.67 GAA and a 0.929 SV% and is currently 3-2 in his early ECHL career.
