The Trois-Rivières Lions have announced that defenceman Eric Hjorth is heading overseas after playing in 43 games while putting up three goals and six assists with the Lions. Hjorth was in his first season in the ECHL after having spent two seasons in Finland and a year in Sweden. His only other season in North America came in the 2019-20 season when he was with the Sarina Sting of the OHL, where he had 12 goals and 17 assists for 29 points in 60 games. It has not yet been announced where he’s going overseas, but with most of his career being played in Sweden, it wouldn’t be a shock if the Swedish defenseman is heading back home

Hjorth was a fourth round pick of the Columbus Blue Jackets back in 2019 but has not made it any higher than the ECHL. The Lions only had six defencemen prior to Hjorth leaving, so expect them to be in the market for a defenceman before they head to Glens Falls to face the Adirondack Thunder.
