ECHL: Yanick Turcotte Heads Overseas

Yanick Turcotte has announced that he is going overseas after seven seasons in the ECHL where he played seven seasons putting up six goals and 23 assists for 30 points along with 607 penalty minutes as he spent time with the Worcester Railers, South Carolina Stingrays, and Adirondack Thunder. The 6’0 forward has struggled with injuries which has limited him to only 27 games over the past three seasons. Turcotte is well-known for his physicality and willingness to fight. Prior to the start of the season, the Quebec native was named one of the assistant captains for the Thunder along with Ryan Smith and Colin Felix. The 27-year-old had played in all four games for the Thunder so far this season but had failed to find the scoresheet but did drop the gloves. Adirondack has suspended Turcotte in order to keep his ECHL rights if he decides to return to the ECHL. In a statement released by the Thunder, Turcotte said “Thunder Fans! Thank You for all the love and support shown in the past year and a half. I have made the difficult decision to play overseas. You are the best fans in the ECHL! I love the energy and passion you always bring to the building every night, I’m truly going to miss it”.
