Smitty at Mr Matty Barry and of course follow us at Bruins Benders as we do all
1:23
sorts of great stuff offseason on season through the season and so forth his the
1:29
season is the season to be merry so uh here we are in the middle of
1:35
the off season where there's not just not a lot of stuff going on but I will say this I was doing a little bit of research just to try to get any type of
1:42
nugget and I did see that Brad Marian how about this one top 50 selki award
1:50
voting 11 times yeah not really mentioned enough
1:55
right no no I mean top 50 so
2:00
I mean it's not like he's winning the thing but a lot of them though were top you know 20 15 I mean a lot of them were
2:07
fairly High yeah I mean he's he's been um very responsible defensively for the
2:13
majority of his career I would say in the last couple of years that's waned a
2:19
little bit he'll still back check but you know he's he's primarily looking
2:24
offense now at this stage in his career I would say um you know had some bad line changes that led to uh you know
2:32
goals at in opportune times so um yeah I I would say over the course of his
2:39
career he has been a very very good two-way player and one of the best left
2:44
Wings in the NHL for stretchy Years A plus uh 292 or something or other like a
2:50
plus ridiculous and I mean a lot of that has to do with playing with Patrice berson one of the best defensive forwards ever in the planet um so that
2:59
helps of course this this past season marshan was just a plus two he's
3:04
actually been a positive every single season every single full season he's played that's pretty good that's pretty
3:11
good and uh and last year just a plus two the lowest that he has been um you
3:18
know not a lot of scoring from that line too not a lot of five great five on five play last season yeah I mean score some
3:26
goals their five on five play slipped a little bit the Bruins it did um and you
3:31
know a lot of that has to do and we've talked about it a lot over the the course of last season but a lot of that
3:38
goes to the center play if you don't win faceoffs you don't have the puck and you
3:43
know then you're chasing and that's not conducive to Great five on five play and
3:49
generating scoring chances so um you know we've talked about it a lot you've
3:54
talked about it a lot you need that Elite Center play um Coyle and zaka
4:00
during the regular season very good Seasons overall still not great on the dot either one of them really Coyle was
4:07
was marginally better uh zaka ended up moving to Wing H that's how good he was on the face in the faceof circle so um
4:15
you know and then in the playoffs not great really um for either one of them
4:21
um so they do need that Elite Center they need that Elite Talent and we were hoping that maybe they'd go out and get
4:27
it in free agency uh it wasn't meant to be so um Lind Holm hopefully can fill that
4:33
spot I I mean I guess I guess they did address it I mean um you know
4:41
L and he is a Faceoff guy so you know hopefully that improves some I mean
4:47
hopefully it does I mean I think the team has obviously looked for def defense goal tending you know they have
4:54
a really good defensive core they have really good defensive forwards they lose one in the bruss but gain a good
5:00
defensive Center in lolm so you know I think that's the Avenue they're going in I'm really interested to see if they can
5:07
get balance scoring throughout the season if they can really be one of the top six or eight offensive teams as far
5:14
as goal scoring is concerned because that's kind of where you need to be uh if you're going to be a Stanley Cup
5:21
Contender so if that's not the case then Stanley Cup is not coming in 20 24 25
5:27
yeah I don't I don't think they're going to be a top uh offensive team I really don't I think they'll I I wouldn't say
5:33
they'll struggle to score goals because they have guys on the team that can score goals they just don't have the
5:39
depth of scoring that um you know they've had in the past and you know the
5:46
same type of depth that some other teams have in their own division even with with Florida and Toronto certainly um
5:54
you know even Ottawa has really good forward depth I would say you know the rest of the team is um not great but uh
6:03
you know maybe with allmark now Ottawa can make a little push here um but you
6:09
know the division's pretty tough and and you know the Bruins defense and goal tending is going to have to be what
6:15
carries them and it and it can in the regular season I just don't know if it can carry them when it comes to not
6:22
cutting time in the playoffs absolutely we shall see I mean we're just under two months away
6:30
two long months away long ass months sorry from from training camp full training camp September 18th rookie Camp

7:08
30 Bruins prospects and we are at 25 and number
7:15
25 on the list is Casper nassen Casper good old Casper
7:23
the another big swed in the m in the mix an OE to Carl Soderberg
7:30
you know this is was the oneeyed swed the oneeyed the oneeyed but he was angry
7:35
he was angry yeah he was big too was he was yeah he was Casper nassen is a
7:42
recent draft pick of your Boston Bruins uh nassen is a uh is at Miami of Ohio
7:50
University he is a swed 20 years old just turned 20 in April uh he's going to
7:55
m m Miami you Miami Ohio this coming season he was with
8:02
frola in the Nashi NL j20 in Sweden and had 16 goals 15
8:09
assists in 41 games last season and he is 64 205 he was picked in 2023 in the
8:19
seventh round yeah he's a big kid uh you know can score a little bit he's a he's
8:25
a Winger he's a right winger yeah um you know big 205 pounds I
8:31
mean um so you know the brunes stick with uh you know going with
8:38
size they they certainly like the size these days they do um and you know he
8:44
kind of fits that fits that mold uh you know kind of a bigger uh Power Forward
8:50
type of guy and uh you know has some touch uh shown some touch with uh with
8:56
Sweden with franda and you know uh we'll be interested to see
9:03
how he does uh with um University of Miami yeah for sure I mean he'll be
9:08
playing some major college hockey right here in the states and a chance quite a few Bruins prospects playing you know
9:15
high level College hockey this coming season so it's a chance for you to to check out some college hockey uh number
9:24
24 is defenseman Elliot gronwall now Elliot was drafted this draft 2024 he's
9:31
18 years old uh young guy left shot defenseman
9:36
62200 uh and Elliot has some aggressive nature to his game which again is
9:43
something again I think the Bruins have changed their philosophy in defenseman some used to be Puck movers didn't
9:49
really care what your size was good skater move the puck Advance the puck uh
9:55
get into the rush type of thing it looks like they're now getting back to more of
10:00
we need to be a little aggressive we need to be nasty play hard you know hard to play against uh we need to hit you
10:08
you know we need to be you know to wear you down some and a lot of their younger guys now are big guys like grown Walt
10:16
yeah and uh he showed some flashes at development Camp I thought he was uh pretty good at development Camp uh
10:23
showed some um you know some offensive potential that you know you maybe didn't
10:29
think was there so it'll be interesting to see how he does he's committed to play at uh
10:35
Quinnipiac and um he was most recently with the Cedar Rapids Rough Riders I
10:40
believe the rough rid your favorite USHL team rers um 45 minutes away from your boy 45
10:50
minutes away from our boy our boy that boy who who that producer me dingdong oh
10:59
you're you're 45 minutes you're in Chicago oh Cedar Rapids okay I thought you meant Quinnipiac because you used to
11:04
be in Connecticut I get it I get it now um Cedar Rapids he had 57 games last
11:11
season five goals 11 assists in the USL and now will'll be at Quinnipiac
11:17
with Chris Pelosi I believe will be his teammate there and he's a little uh
11:23
we'll get to him a little later and I'm telling you he's he's he's he's a he
11:28
looks to be a pretty good pick late was like 92nd overall and he has been good
11:35
at every level so so grald 62201
11:41
um out of uh Bellow Falls Vermont yes Vermont Vermont just churning out the
11:48
quick side note s Smitty's mom born Bellow Falls Vermont is that right
11:55
correct wow that's like six degrees of of right or something so me and Elliot
12:01
should be best friends I think yeah I think that's it's in the blood I think that's a valid point we should get him
12:07
on the podcast you know who else was born in Bell Falls Vermont Hall of Fame catcher for your Boston Red Sox count
12:15
and Fisk Bellow Falls Vermont okay wow there you go they could potentially have
12:20
two two professional athletes from Bellow Falls Vermont yeah and your mom
12:26
and my mom so there you go yeah there you go one one good mom and then two professional
12:32
athletes um number 23 is Ryan bishell
12:37
he's a goenda Dame had an atto with the Bruins Providence Bruins at the end of the year
12:44
and then now he is in the mix is bishell uh they lost the Bruins did Kyle Kaiser
12:51
went overseas lost Reed dick who they did not resign so that goaltending depth
12:57
that we talked about for a bit and it was so impressive got a little thinner um Philip spack is still a
13:05
Providence College for junior season looks like and now bishell comes in as kind of a replacement for a couple of
13:12
the lower level goalies they had so you know he's a you know he played at Notre Dame at major college um had a good
13:19
career there and you know taken a flyer on a guy out of college yeah it depends what happens with Corpus solo I would
13:26
say but um you know between Calo uh busy DPO and and bishell you know if copas
13:35
solo cements the backup job and isn't cut you know after Camp uh you know if
13:41
if busy doesn't win that job then I assume it'll be busy and DPO in Providence and and bishell will probably
13:48
be the starter for your main Mariners I would I would think
13:54
unless you know keeps a third goalie for some reason but I I don't think that's usually how that works but maybe um but
14:03
uh you know he should be um a pretty good a pretty good player and and the Bruins do a really good job of
14:08
developing goalie so you know here he's another one to to add to the list for sure bishell had five years he was on
14:15
the Smitty plan five years in college uh University of Notre Dame uh his goals
14:22
against averages by year 2.52 2.87 2.08 2.39 2.58 State percentages last season
14:32
924 had a really good career there and um you know again like you said he played in the USHL for the Fargo Force
14:40
before that for three seasons he's an older guy he's 25 just turned 25 on the
14:46
5th of July but goenda them late can play for a long
14:51
time too play for a long time yeah you could play for a long time you can still have a 10 12 year career sure in the NHL
14:58
uh so it doesn't really matter he's from Medina uh not the Medina it's not the
15:04
Funky Cold Medina it's minina I I could be wrong we'll have to uh we'll have to
15:10
hit up we don't have any relatives from Madina Minnesota we'll have to hit up Mickey uh our Wildside podcast yes who's
15:17
on the inside the rig network does a fantastic job we'll have to figure out some of those Minnesota pronunciations
15:24
from she can help us out with that right bishell was a Baker nominee is last
15:32
season at Notre Dame so hey he's a talented guy let's see what happens with him you said you were right though I
15:37
mean you get busy and dietro and then Maine actually just uh I think just reup the goalie too so
15:44
there's like kind of a little bit of a log Jam in there but I'm sure they'll find some time for bishell um oh seems
15:51
to have some sort of potential sure so um all right 22 how about Christian
15:57
kadinsky Christian was a uh yeah that's a that's a I think I nailed it but that's a um
16:05
that's a recent draft pick as well Christian kadinsky um he was picked I think in a
16:11
couple of drafts ago I'm looking for it now yeah 2023 Draft round seven 220th
16:17
overall okay he's a defensive defenseman heavy hitter physical uh left shot uh
16:25
Alo also a swed swed born uh May 20th 2005 19 years
16:32
old apparently 65213 talk about big sweds so a big
16:39
physical bruising swed love it give me the big sweds on the back side on the
16:44
back sure Elite prospects ad him as tall rangy it can play physical shows Poise
16:51
on the breakouts can execute quality Cross Lane breakouts through pressure so kadinsky was one of two picks in the
16:58
seventh round in 2023 with Casper nassen so you have a couple in the top I love
17:03
the sound of all of that all of that yeah all of that heavy hitter yeah
17:09
defensive defenseman physical defenseman and shows Poise and the breakouts okay
17:14
put guys through the glass and then get the pack out yeah you know's what's perfect maybe maybe he's
17:21
Nick ledstrom Maybe not maybe he's Christian kadinsky
17:28
yeah yeah yeah and that's fine too that's fine yeah yeah so he's at 22 be
17:35
be you know secure aggressive yeah so kadinsky uh is it looks like he'll be
17:42
with prol Londa again three goals 15 assists last year with uh the j20 team
17:49
he was the captain of the squad Bruins love their captains they do so there he
17:55
is 21 is Alec regula he was brought over in the Felino Hall trade I believe
18:01
wasn't he regula yes yeah it was regula and Mitchell correct um so Alec is at 21
18:08
a defenseman and uh he came over in that trade for Hall and he's 23 years
18:16
old and he is uh was a third round pick in 2018 of the um Chicago Blackhawks I
18:25
believe um probably oh Detroit wed rngs sorry he was 67th overall 64207 another
18:32
big boy yeah right shot D West boom Field West Bloomfield Township in
18:39
Michigan um played for the Providence Bruins last season four goals 22 assists
18:45
he was actually I want to say at one point he led the league in plus minus I
18:52
don't know if he finished that way but he was like in the plus 40 something range from at some one point
18:59
I mean that's that's plus minus isn't the be all end all as far as stats go but you know it's pretty nice to be on
19:06
that side of it though sure you're gonna be it's better than being minus 40 put it that way
19:13
yeah Le lethal migraine just going back to uh Kristen kadinsky uh pretty sure
19:20
everyone is ledstrom and they till they show up uh game one in the NHL yes yes
19:25
yeah we we've we've we've coined every one to be that yeah and we would that
19:32
every Swedish player that the Bruins have picked yes could potentially be Nicholas L like uh Matt deander was he
19:41
sweet materer was I don't think he was Nicholas sandstrom no he wasn't he
19:49
wasn't no he wasn't any of the lrom family yeah um
19:55
regula had 20 has 22 games NHL experience under his belt for the
20:00
Chicago Blackhawks uh that's what I had and then L London Knights for three seasons in the OHL where he had some
20:06
really good seasons for them so regula has some ability uh they brought him back again for another season at
20:14
Providence so there's 21 through 25 on the prospects we get into the top 20
20:20
next week it'll be it'll be joyous for sure chirp number two trip number two is
20:30
Fabian lysel is the only Bruin on the Athletics top 100 prospects list at
20:36
88 so that is all that the athletic has on the top 100 in the entire league for
20:43
for the Boston Bruins I mean we everybody knew that their Prospect pool wasn't great um and
20:52
that sounds about right I mean honestly sure does it sounds about right unless you want to count you know guy like
20:59
merkulov which I I think he probably should be in there similar an age um merkulov last
21:08
year was his first full season in Providence put up 60 points uh that's nothing to sneeze at so I I feel like
21:14
maybe he should have got snuck in as well um as far as lowai I mean he spent
21:21
you know a decent amount of time with the Bruins I don't know if that 40 something games yeah yeah that probably
21:26
disqualifies him um or he probably would have made it too but you know I I mean the Bruins have been good for a long
21:33
time so they pick at the bottom of the draft and and also have traded away a bunch of first round picks for you know
21:41
NHL toal so right you're left with kind of a bare cupboard uh you know as far as
21:47
prospects go and you know obviously it shows here yeah the the cder cup rules
21:53
what 25 games something like that something like that so I think they're probably going by that lorai has 40ish
21:58
patre 33 I think it was so uh beer had a bunch too I think he's off the list too
22:05
so uh but yeah I mean that's look it it was fa to begin with and then you take your you know three
22:12
guys uh who have made the NHL roster essentially now which is pretty good
22:18
yeah you know that three guys can make the roster I mean how good does that make you I well yet to be seen but they
22:24
made it so they've had three guys recently to make make the NHL roster
22:30
which they' really need to have they need two couple more this season sure to
22:35
to make it and make an impact and that's you know merkulov and and lysel at front
22:40
and center I mean they they need to be there it's in some way shape or form at least one of them um and hopefully at
22:48
the beginning of the season um trip three uh let's see CHP three is ranking
22:54
the top contenders for the 2025 Stanley Cup this was Sarah civian uh who's on X at Sarah civian so
23:03
here are the contenders in her mind uh in there's the top
23:08
12 12 Tampa Bay Lightning 11 Nashville Predators 10 New Jersey Devils nine
23:15
Carolina Hurricanes eight Toronto Maple Leafs seven Vegas golden knights six
23:21
Vancouver connects five Colorado Avalanche four New York Rangers three
23:26
Dallas Stars two Florida Panthers one Edmonton oers so the Bruins are out of the top 12
23:33
there I don't yeah the Bruins aren't in it I I mean I don't really I it's hard
23:38
to quibble with that list really I mean if you wna throw the Bruins in at 12 you
23:45
probably could I mean uh are they better than Tampa Bay right now maybe maybe I
23:53
think they probably have a better def Decor um you know Tampa probably still
23:58
has better forwards um sure you know vasileski as much as
24:04
people um kind of pump him up he hasn't been as good the last couple years no he
24:11
hasn't so I I would say between him and Swan I think last year Swan was better
24:19
um whether that will be the case again you never know because goalies kind of have their ups and downs sometimes you
24:25
know if Swan's consistently good again I think that Ed there goes to the Bruins and then I would say you know hot goalie
24:33
good defense you could make the argument that the Bruins maybe should sneak in at 12 but still
24:41
overall a pretty good list I would say yeah not bad you know I um I I I agree
24:46
with lethal migraine Nashville below Carolina seems odd because I really think Nashville is going to be pretty
24:52
good um this season I think they're going to be good uh and I agree um I'm
24:58
generally not a fan of the Athletics list either uh sometimes they seem to be a little skewed against the Bruins I
25:04
don't know why just probably just coincidence I'm not GNA be that guy but I don't I don't love it I don't I just
25:10
think it's a guy with his opinion that's fine I we have ours so um but I think um
25:16
the Bruins I think are definitely right now better than Tampa Bay I think they've been sliding down hill um for a
25:24
couple of years now in aging uh so I do like the I think I you know I like what
25:29
the Bruins did in sort of changing a little bit of the makeup of the team and getting ly
25:36
home to at least be a legitimate Center for them like I I like that and I do
25:41
think that lowai and Patra another year under their belt in the league like I think that this year they could be a
25:48
little bit better than we might think but again offensively it's a challenge you know and they aren't flashy you're
25:54
right so and that's that could be something that would they they might
26:00
sneak up on teams because they aren't flashy and they're not going to show like a ton of offensive Firepower on
26:05
paper and so forth but they might just go out win games like they have been you know so I don't know I mean I I
26:12
don't know yeah I mean if if lindol can get can develop some chemistry with with pasta and um
26:20
zaka and get back to anywhere close to where he was a few years ago when he was
26:25
riding with gdo and and um uh kchu right yeah um then you know the
26:34
Bruins are should be in pretty good shape because then you know their Center depth is is better than it has been and
26:41
you know you're getting some offensive production from from lindol who you know
26:46
hasn't really shown that in the last few years um you know he did have a good
26:51
playoff so hopefully that's something to build on but um yeah I mean the Bruins
26:56
could certainly surprise him teams um and I you know they'll keep games close
27:03
at least yeah yeah they will I it's going to be the most entertaining hockey to watch but may not be they'll they'll
27:09
be there they'll be there when uh when it matters I think sure all right chirp four did a little research and there are
27:17
seven Don Sweeney drafted players currently on the Bruins roster Brandon
27:22
Carlo Charlie makoy Trent Frederick Jeremy Swan John beer m lowai Matt Patra
27:30
seven uh drafted players now on the Bruins roster yeah that's not it's not a huge
27:38
number but it's not a terrible number either I'd be interested to see how the rest of the league Falls as far as that
27:45
goes I would say most of the teams are probably in that same range like seven to 10 are drafted and then there's a
27:52
handful that are traded for and and so forth and um so yeah it would be to see
27:59
how that all shakes out those guys are all pretty good players for the Bruins
28:05
sure yeah um you know and low Ry and ptra certainly have the opportunity to
28:11
make a pretty significant impact here in the coming years so not a bad draft or
28:17
not a bad class of of players overall they from Sweeney yeah you know what and
28:24
you know he gets beaten up for 2015 and so forth now 20 2018 2018 blows but that
28:32
wasn't a great draft you got kind of throw that in there too 19 you've got
28:37
beer I think and then uh 20 and 21 are pretty look to be Look To Have Some
28:44
solid prospects on there it's gonna take a little bit of time yeah to see if they can really make an impact you have some
28:51
guys in college hockey this year jelic and gaso and uh of course you got lero
28:57
there now and you know we've talked about all the guys Pelosi um there's a lot of guys
29:03
Hendrickson so but those guys are still a couple years away I mean at least so
29:09
we'll have to see what and to rank that those that part of the draft after that
29:14
but um but you know Sweeney's done a pretty good job it seems to be in the
29:20
last three years really three to four years of drafting because we hear that
29:26
these players are actually doing pretty well and progressing so and
29:31
then we see them at development camp and we see some good highlights of them and so time will tell in another three or
29:37
four years if that shakes out but it looks like he's getting better at it and not being so let's go grab a guy and try
29:45
to you know recreate the wheel you know so but he has to because they don't have
29:51
a lot of high picks so he's got to got to nail it yep hey chir five is is right
29:56
here in it's giveaway time on the Bruins Benders podcast Jersey giveaway from
30:02
Fanatics of your choice and the winner is Derek Lewis Derrick Lewis at hold my
30:10
daddy yes not a boy yeah Derek Lewis gets the dub so he will get a NHL jersey
30:19
of his choice and we will reach out to Derek get that done for you so that's
30:24
the July Jersey giveaway winner do it again in August I'm not sure I think
30:30
we'll Pro you'll probably get that announcement on um with Mickey probably
30:36
or somebody else on a different pod we're going to share the wealth so that's courtesy of inside the rink go to inside the rink.com and get your hockey
30:44
content there yeah and also hey jump on some merch subscribe to the YouTube
30:50
channel too yes subscribe you gotta yeah you gotta win you gotta subscribe to win so hop on
30:56
there subscribe only people who can win are subscribers yeah that's it right
31:02
there and you you win and you win just by subscribing so you can hear the
31:08
hockey content that's it that's it you
31:13
time all right so chirp six who is destined for the Hall of Fame among
31:19
these current players so basically I thought to look at the the
31:24
point leaders career point leaders uh um uh in the NHL and I'm GNA just sort
31:32
of run down the list okay so just so everyone knows uh you and I both
31:39
subscribe to the small Hall Theory the Hall of Fame should be smaller than it
31:44
is in all sports yes too many people get in too many people are very good players
31:49
that get in yes and and we are both small Hall people and and here's what
31:54
I'm doing I'm going with your your philosoph opy is if you say a name you
32:00
immediately say yes he's in correct if you waver in any fashion yeah you gotta
32:06
at least table him right at least table him you can't say he's in okay correct so this is me giving you a name and
32:14
you're gonna tell us who's in okay yeah let's do it Sig Crosby in Alex oetkin in
32:21
Gino Malin n Patrick Kane n an Kor C
32:28
table table it Steven stos in Joe pavelski
32:34
in clo jeru table table uh Eric
32:43
stall nah he might not even be a table for me right okay John
32:50
tarus uh table T probably in but uh
32:55
Nicholas backr table Phil kessle in Conor McDavid in
33:05
Blake wheeler table probably a no right now Brad
33:11
Martian I say in but he'll he'll probably I mean that's Bruin's bias
33:17
he'll probably like the the guys who are in are going to be first ballot no doubters yes doub you know it might take
33:25
a year or two for some of these guys I think Mar will eventually get in but it'll take him a little time okay Jamie
33:33
Ben table Corey Perry table Nathan McKinnon in Zack
33:45
par he's very good very good okay very good Jonathan Taves in all right here's
33:53
the last five guys Brent Burns m
34:00
table okay Nikita kerov in Leon dyle in
34:05
Eric Carlson and Matt duchaine table so those are the top
34:12
25 point leaders top 25 active point leaders right there now the
34:19
interesting argument is wheer and marand are within 14 points of each other
34:26
they've had very similar Point type career like they are very similar in their their
34:33
data um but it's odd that you know and I feel the same way like I'm almost like
34:39
yeah maran's probably gonna be in but I would never think Wheeler's in yes the thing he played in like
34:49
western Canada so people didn't see him right um I think as part of his
34:54
problem um I also think that marand was
35:00
arguably one of the top five six players in the world for
35:06
like a three four year stretch and was maybe the best left wing in the league
35:11
for a three four year stretch like he was right there one two in the league um
35:17
so I think that has to weigh in his favor now you wouldn't necessarily ever
35:24
say that about Blake wheeler I don't think so um sure yeah and I'll tell you
35:30
top top 11 in heart four five years in a row Maran right Marian so he's seven 11
35:38
five nine and five in heart yeah I mean yeah so yeah that's a big factor to me
35:46
like if you're like that's why I've always had the argument with baseball is that if you're dominant like Jim Rice
35:51
wasn't in for a while like the guy was dominant for like 10 years if you're dominant in a league for 10 years you're
35:57
in yeah I would and and then you also have the you know the playing for Canada and
36:05
the Olympics kind of a thing like berson Martian Crosby on a line together you
36:10
know uh and maybe it wasn't the Olympics I was it right I think they did um but I
36:19
think that weighs too like do you make your national team type of thing you
36:25
know are you good enough for that like if they're picking the 25 best guys in Canada are you on that team right or 25
36:33
best guys in the US are you on that then right if you're on if you're not
36:39
then people don't believe you're up there right yeah wheeler was eighth in
36:44
heart one time the only time he was nominated in any fashion for the heart
36:49
um it was a good point by lethal migraine about wheeler um never really considered a
36:55
great leader yeah I guess I'm not sure of that but um but marand uh has become
37:02
a leader has really transformed his career I he was going in a direction
37:07
where no one was gonna vote him for anything so now he's sort of uh yeah he
37:13
kind of he kind of turned his his career around in in in Winnipeg for Blake
37:19
wheeler they literally took the C off of his chest that is true that is true that
37:26
is true well that'll do it so that's you know that's uh but I think you know to
37:32
speak to what you were saying is you know when you're nominated five times for the heart and the other guy's
37:38
nominated one time I mean that tells you kind of everything you need to know I think so yeah I mean he's he's holla
37:45
very good me I think he's a very a lot of these a lot of those guys are very
37:51
good players right you know your pares and your Corey Perry's and like yeah I
37:57
mean Cory Perry was a didn't he win the league MVP one year yeah I think he did win the heart one time Anaheim I mean
38:05
that that might push him over the top sure but I mean I I still don't you know he
38:13
had some really good years out out there but he didn't really do it over a long a
38:20
long stretch like he had a few really good years and then you know he's been pretty
38:27
good yeah it's it's it is more about impact on the sport as Rob was saying like that shouldn't get you in though
38:33
you know what I mean that shouldn't get you in being pretty good for a long time yeah then should get you having a couple
38:39
really really good years shouldn't get you in shouldn't get you in yeah it should be more of a dominant for a stretch of time like a stretch of time
38:46
exactly you know and those other guys we talked about in the be in the first six or eight are all in that level I mean
38:52
that's that's the way it is so I would even question pavelski like yeah I mean Jesus he had a lot of points and great
39:00
guy and people loved him and but you know just was he really like was he a
39:05
guy that rolled off the top of your tongue when you talked about give me the top five guys in the league no no no it
39:11
was it was no never like give the top 10 guys in the league I probably still wouldn't have said him right like and
39:17
some of it is playing in San Jose and I get that like I get the West Coast thing and East Coast bias and all that I get
39:22
that it's probably part of it but geez I he wouldn't be the first guy off my tongue
39:28
that's probably cop copar though you know right he's very similar to berson
39:33
probably better offensive numbers than berson right he just doesn't have the skies because berson want him but he's
39:39
been right there sure so he probably and he's got a couple cop I mean he should
39:44
probably be in it should probably be an easier slam dunk with him but I was like
39:50
eh I don't know yeah and and that's probably you know East Coast bias there
39:55
yeah sure um all right CH seven Bruins have invited a couple of guys to Bruins
40:02
rookie Camp which begins in September I think it's the 11th Lucas Romeo first
40:08
guy he played split time with the charlott town Islanders and the cape R Eagles of the Quebec major Junior Hockey
40:15
League last season uh he is a right- Winger 19 years old he's
40:21
63205 a bigan uh his natural size it says from
40:27
malite prospects he had 16 goals whatever the hell that means uh natural
40:32
size I've been longing for natural size in the locker room I think they were in
40:38
the locker room measuring the natural size I've longed for natural size but uh
40:43
16 goals last season with K Breton and nine with charlott town for 25 total so
40:49
he will join the rookie Camp uh as a 19-year-old out of Oakville Ontario
40:58
um says here um on top of having a Long Reach he also moves and handles uh
41:04
relatively well he mostly distinguishes himself with his pressure game he steals pucks on the four check and makes so he
41:10
it looks like he creates his his his offense through aggressive for checking
41:15
and maybe not overly super skilled but a guy to keep an eye on rookie Camp if I
41:22
if you're there and you want to look at Lucas Romeo then uh is a 19-year-old that's
41:28
going to be invited with natural size natural you should you should look
41:33
closely for the natural size look it I it should natural size should stand out
41:39
I mean it should just shouldn't it just jump off the page uh I would think uh I don't know if
41:45
he wants it to stand out because you you know you get a puck that would hurt if you get a puck yeah you don't want to
41:52
get a puck anywhere that you shouldn't have um anywhere near your natural size no I'm looking for this this guy here
41:59
Thomas Thomas saula is the other guy that has been uh invited to Camp he's a
42:06
20-year-old out of CCH of the cha he was with cap Brit Eagles he was a
42:14
teammate of Romeo he had two goals and 19 assists with K Bretton he has a
42:20
defenseman left shot uh and he is 6' 170 tall but slight he played for Ceta in
42:28
the world juniors uh under 20 uh seven games had two goals okay in that
42:34
tournament so he uh he will join rookie Camp as well uh and he played
42:42
for uh Val deor as well in the Quebec major Junior Hockey League so a couple
42:48
of Q guys we're going to be at camp for the Bruins good more more guys
42:55
that's open is that open to the public of that stuff if it's that Warrior it should be
43:01
yeah that Warrior you can definitely go yeah yeah I think the first week there is definitely War I don't think they're
43:07
doing the Sabers thing the prospect challenge no I don't think so I don't think they're doing that this year that
43:12
was something they've done the last few years um Rob knows a G Rob knows a gon W
43:19
socket with natural size uh we have a sponsor in Wicket so we're we're we're
43:25
familiar yeah we're natural size goes both ways it does it does natural it's
43:31
and people like natural I mean isn't that just more natural you get your big naturals and your yeah you know natural
43:38
th natural big naturals yeah hey draftking sports book is Boston's

45:29
question dereck's a Bruins guy I think I think not 100% sure on that but I think
45:35
he is uh I'm going with the I'm going with the pasta I think he's gonna pasta
45:42
okay I'll go maoy you go pasta go makoy who would you get if you won what you're
45:47
ineligible for by the way uh I would get a uh and this is purely uh selfish on my
45:55
account I would go uh Will Smith San Jose Sharks oh yeah you're trying to get
46:02
the smitties yeah I'm trying to get all the Smiths I'm trying to go either that or if uh I could get a retro Billy Smith
46:09
I would do that oh Billy Smith Islanders yeah because I want all the Smith
46:14
jerseys in the man cave that's what I'm trying to do yeah sweet sweet Aussie Smith yeah the
46:22
powder blue powder blue Cardinals yeah it's a be and uh EMT Smith hopefully is
46:29
on the way so yeah yeah slowly but surely trying to do it so yeah Will
46:35
Smith San Jose Sharks I would do that how about you what would you what would you get I I really I I I like to get
46:43
guys who are going to be there for a while like forever so I'd probably go pasta I don't like to get guys actually
46:49
honestly I might get bur on just you know that's signic sort of done
46:56
deal you know yeah I don't have to worry about him getting traded or signing somewhere else or any of that like the
47:02
team still wishes him happy birthday so you can still buy the Jersey right yeah he just turned 39
47:08
yeah not even 40 no that's a that's a that's a good call you can never go wrong with with b no no I mean that's
47:16
that's a good one for sure uh any Bender this week uh everybody who didn't subscribe
47:22
to the YouTube channel yeah I mean that's everybody who lost all 500 44 of
47:27
you and the others who didn't even attempt it uh have
47:33
lost there you go Bender yeah yeah the Edmonton Oilers oh yes well the Edmonton
47:39
Oilers yes uh Stan Bowman the new general manager director of hockey
47:44
operations wasn't uh yeah wasn't well received obviously um and you know look they
47:51
tried to smooth it over and say that they took spoke to this guy and Sheldon Kennedy and everything else and get get
47:57
all this confirmation and everything whatever like I just I I don't one thing
48:03
I'll never understand about professional sports in other businesses but
48:09
definitely is professional sports is the amount of chances guys get when they
48:14
blatantly do things that are just either immoral unethical illegal sometimes like
48:21
all of it like it's just amazing to me how there's not another guy in the world
48:27
how many people are in the world 300 billion is that how many are 300 million
48:32
billion I don't know there's a lot know I think that's 300 million in just the United States in just United States so
48:38
that doesn't include Canada so there's not another guy
48:45
7.9 billion people on Earth people on earth and the we and they continue to
48:51
recycle the same guys so let's round up let's call it eight billion and you
48:56
can't find another [ __ ] Stan Bowman who hasn't [ __ ] done dumb [ __ ] yeah
49:02
you can't find another guy that find another guy to run your hockey operations no not only that Stan Bowman
49:07
hasn't been the greatest I mean there's some there's a track R of just being a shitty J to like it's just not I don't
49:14
get it um so lethal migrant say there's a petition going around with thousands
49:20
of signatures I would assume so I mean it's just it's just incredible to me I
49:26
don't know I just don't understand why you get into that good old boys network and you can remain for as long as you
49:33
want I guess only there's only a certain amount of guys who can coach hockey and be general managers and directors of
49:39
hockey operations I guess out of 7.9 billion people I guess these are the
49:44
only guys that's it that's it there it is you're all done
49:50
that's it that's it nepotism I mean a thousand perc people were bitching about
49:55
LeBron James and his son yeah like that's the that's the least case of nepotism I've ever seen like give me a
50:01
break like this is this is all just terrible I don't know but whatever
50:07
that's a bender that's a good Bender Connor thanks for chiming in with that one um hey thanks for tuning in
