Adirondack Thunder vs. Norfolk Admirals

Date: November 8-9, 2024 (Friday & Saturday)

Time: 7:00 PM ET

Location: Cool Insuring Arena, Glens Falls, New York

Adirondack Thunder: 3-0-0-1

Norfolk Admirals: 2-2-0-0

The Adirondack Thunder have accumulated 7 points with a streak of 3-0-0-1 and a goal differential of +5 (11 GF, 6 GA). Their penalty minutes are relatively low at 40, suggesting disciplined gameplay. They also have ECHL Goaltender of the Month (October 2024), Jeremy Brodeur in their toolkit. Brodeur has had an outstanding start so far this season. He boasts a perfect record of 2-0-0, including one shutout. His impressive stats feature a 0.50 goals-against average and a stellar .981 SV%. One of their key players in this matchup will likely be forward Ryan Smith, who has recorded two goals and one assist this season. The Thunder are eager to build on their recent success, which includes an impressive 100% PK percentage.

The Norfolk Admirals, who  are currently leading the standings with 11 points after eight games, will likely continue to rely on contributions from defenseman Carson Musser (7 points) and forward Brady Fleurent (10 points). Norfolk’s 5-2 win-loss record shows consistency, which includes one overtime win with no losses. Their balanced offensive and defensive play has been a significant factor. However, just like the Thunder, they too have a goal differential of +5 after their 11 games so goaltending for the Admirals may make or break this matchup for them. They recently saw success with newly signed goaltender, Joe Cannata, who earned his first win against Worcester on Sunday, November 3rd. However you look at it, this series promises to be a thriller between two highly competitive ECHL teams, each looking to assert their dominance in the North.

South Carolina Stingrays vs. Jacksonville Icemen

Date: November 9, 2024 (Saturday)

Time: 7:00 PM ET

Location: VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena, Jacksonville, Florida

South Carolina Stingrays: 4-1-1-0

Jacksonville Icemen: 1-2-1-0

The South Carolina Stingrays, coming off an overtime win against Atlanta on Sunday, are eager to keep their momentum going. With talents like forward Austin Magera (1g, 7a) and goaltender Seth Eisele (0.955 save percentage), they have the potential to deliver an impressive performance. Their special teams are particularly strong, boasting a power play success rate of 28.6% and a penalty kill efficiency of 86.7%. Solid goaltending is another key strength, highlighted by the addition of Garin Bjorklund’s recent 23-save performance. Offensively, the team is well-balanced, especially with players like Micha Miller, Kyler Kupka, and Tyler Weiss. Their ability to thrive in high-pressure situations may make them a team the Icemen will have some a lot of trouble with.

Meanwhile, the Jacksonville Icemen, led by forward Logan Cockerill (3g, 2a) and defenseman Robert Calisti (5a), will look to leverage their home-ice advantage. The Jacksonville Icemen faced a challenging game recently against the Orlando Solar Bears, resulting in a 5-1 loss. Zach Jordan scored the lone goal for the Icemen, marking his second of the season, both of which he made on power plays. Despite entering the game with strong special teams rankings, Jacksonville has struggled, going 1-for-5 on the power play and allowing two shorthanded goals. The Icemen were also out-shot 32-30, continuing a trend of being out-shot in all four of their games this season. Will the Icemen be able bounce back and get any traction against the formidable Stingrays?

Location: Maverik Center, West Valley City, Utah

Tahoe Knight Monsters: 3-1-1-0

Utah Grizzlies: 3-2-0-0

The Tahoe Knight Monsters are eager to continue their strong start in their inaugural season. With a 60% win percentage and 14 goals scored, the Knight Monsters are going to be competitive for the Grizzlies. Plus, having an overtime win shows that the Knight Monsters can handle any pressure situations well. They recently secured a 4-2 victory over the Idaho Steelheads, marking their first series win in franchise history, taking that three game series two games to one. Troy Loggins and Sloan Stanick each netted power play goals, Jett Jones contributed a shorty, and Bear Hughes sealed the victory with an empty-netter. Hughes currently leads the Knight Monsters in points with six (3g, 3a).

Also boasting a 60% win percentage and 20 goals scored, the Utah Grizzlies are also performing impressively. The overtime loss shows they’re facing tough competition, but overall, they’re doing great. Neil Shea has been a standout performer with five goals and three assists in five games, totaling eight points. Right on his heels is Luke Manning who has contributed 6 assists in 5 games, while Mick Messner has three goals and 2 assists. Overall, these players have shown strong performances, with Neil Shea leading in points per game.
