The Winnipeg Jets will continue to watch one of their top prospects play for one of hockey’s most challenging trophies to win. The Seattle Thunderbirds beat the Winnipeg Ice four games to one in the Western Hockey League Ed Chynoweth Cup Finals, clinching their spot in the Memorial Cup.

The 2022 30th overall pick joined the Manitoba Moose for a 14-game stint after struggling to find his stride in Liiga, would post two goals and one assist. Brad Lambert would find himself reassigned to the WHL in early January, an opportunity that Lambert did not hesitate to take.

Brad Lambert would join the Seattle Thunderbirds for the remaining 26-game regular-season stretch and posted an impressive 17 goals and 21 assists for 38 points. Lambert complimented this impressive point total with a plus/minus of plus 27. This reassignment worked wonders for the Winnipeg Jets organization and Brad Lambert’s development path.

In the Seattle Thunderbirds’ 19-game playoff campaign, they would beat the Kelowna Rockets four games to one. Followed by a four-game sweep of the Prince George Cougars, the Kamloops Blazers had more in the tank for the powerhouse Thunderbirds, losing four games to two in a hard-fought series. Finally, the Winnipeg Ice stood at the end of the WHL playoff road, each game was fairly close, but the Seattle Thunderbirds would win four games to one, securing their spot in the Memorial Cup.

Throughout the Thunderbird’s playoff run, Brad Lambert would play in 17 of the 19 games, posting six goals and 20 assists for 26 points. Brad Lambert again proved to be a valuable asset for the Seattle Thunderbirds.

Brad Lambert and the Seattle Thunderbirds will begin their quest for the Memorial Cup against the Peterborough Petes on Saturday, May 27th. This heavyweight tilt is scheduled for 6:00 pm EST.
